I like the week 1 for the following reasons:
|
|
|
|
1. We are all together, yet, no opponent to beat. Just pure points.
2. 100% the team you drafted.
3. Most importantly, the bottom six scoring teams get the 10 free agency dollars. The worst teams get the extra “Ching” for bidding. This is the most important F.A., and the “luck of the draw” for scheduling doesn’t effect it. |

The easy thing would be that…..

| If you choose to put a player in the lock box, this is the only place you can draft him. This would prevent Keith from lock boxing Jared Goff in the 9th (9.1) but being able to pick him 8.12 so he isn’t started, for example. Or picking him at 6.12 because he has a 6th week. |

| We all invest time and money, and to be hamstrung for the year before we get to draft is ridiculous. This year is the first in many that I have a top 12 player in the draft. It has made my prep so much more fun than “how do I get a top 12 guy for next year.” And still win this year. In 2018 my rookie keeper was cut? That year, I started without a good keeper, a later round pick was burned, and I had to overpick a player to make sure I had a starter. It would be nice to have collateral damage be adjusted, somehow. I would like to note that, although, some have called this “cheating “ I don’t see how it is, my team is , finally, good for the year, so-far. Zach, Dat, Kent, andJeremy(due to Burrow) have hard calls to make that are out of their hands. |

| This idea came about over a conversation about coaches not getting their draft order put in and the default being the best pick. I said those with picks in are gone through first, then best available for the rest. Keith said this was too harsh and suggested beer tokens. After our discussion, I tend to agree that this may be too harsh. Then our conversation turned to franchise player picks and not getting them in on time. Again, beer tolkens were used as an example. I explained that I look forward to seeing where people pick and felt it was not harsh enough. I said that an apology would be perfect. As for the Mega Bucks, I would say no, the loss of mega bucks could easily hurt other teams by boosting the two teams within their division. Again, I suggest when the token is turned in the coach needs to apologize for the infraction. A night of 11 apologies will linger longer than 5 MB's and would not have any in season effects. |

NFL Draft Day Zoom Pool Rules.

Hey all, hope everyone is doing good. I was thinking some light-hearted gambling, smack talkin', and a Zoom get together may help everyone move forward. The first step in moving forward is the first step, so, I hope we get a good turnout. Now for the rules.
The pool will be seven dollars, making the pool $77, if all are in. Winner take all! The numbers we need are how many Qb's, Rb's, and Wr's are drafted in the first round (three numbers.) If you are correct you get zero and each step away gets you one point. Lowest score wins. You will also choose what pick the last Qb and WR is taken in the first round (two numbers) without going over. These will be the 1st and 2nd tie breakers. After that it will be a tie. Send your picks to lockbox@customizedfootball.com . If I missed anything, feel free to give me a call, or call for the hell of it!

We are officially suspending the league until 2021! And have a low-budget fun league in 2020.

| All rookies will retain their rookie status until 2021. All rookies that could be drafted this year and next year can be chosen as a keeper in 2022. Having a second FA on sundays would help solve this problem. We have nudged the rosters down for the past few years and it seems as if this is, now, a problem. I would like each person to call me in the next few days to give me their input and vote. A mid season change is a big deal and time is short.

| About 4 years ago I put to vote 2 additional free agency sessions. They were voted down. Then people who voted against them complained about not having them. The next year I added the Sunday free agency. The time was supposed to be chosen to get ahead of over seas games. I may have split hairs, here. I always wanted one at 11:30, too. |

| Teams are open to any changes, now, except you must have 2 D's and 2 kicker at all times(or leave that spot open.) Also, remember when we hit the play-offs, you must be back to a legal drafted roster to pick up players due to injury. Also, a remender, IR is a one way street. After the draft, the only requirement is you retain two d’s and two kickers.

| There was a small problem this week. Two years ago, the rules were erased. I found an old archive this summer, Dave and I went through and thought we caught all the rule changes. We missed the addition of always retaining two kickers and d’s. When it was pointed out that someone had dropped the 2nd d, they informed me that this rule was missed in Dave and my review. They also said they did not remember this rule change. I felt it was fair for them to drop a different player, under these circumstances. Sorry for the inconvenience. |

2018-19 rules discussion set for August 1st.

First off, please have rookies and players in by August 15th. We can discuss this at the meeting, but teams should have time to plan their draft.
We will decide where to have the draft. Currently one person has offered their garage with WiFi and tv, a local bar may be an option, and Shingobee of walker may offer a $100 bonus to the prize pool if it is held there. None are confirmed yet.
The twelve year mark is approaching so we would be able to change how we determine the picking order. Any ideas would be great, but please post them. Currently, I like keeping it the same or the loser bowl determining first pick or first choice of where they want to pick in the draft and the champion getting the left over spot. Other ideas are welcome.
I think these are the main points this year. If you have an idea, give me a call in the evening or Sunday to discuss it.

One thing I like about fantasy football is that the starting rosters simulate real football. Adding a second qb would drastically change this. In addition, a second qb would be a huge change to a finely tuned machine. I agree that the point spread should be greater from 1-12. This could be done with an increase in points for td’s and more penalties for turnovers. The third qb is a waste of time drafting, as everyone drops them to load up on rbs and wrs. This depletes the free agency pool for teams that need it.
As for “super flex”, this supports the idea of starting a second qb. It is pure math that qbs have the most points so it is not a decision for any team to start a second qb . Even the rb, wr, & te flex is a thinly disguised ruse. It is just another reason to overload rosters with wrs and rbs. I have liked the idea of the starting lineup being the same with one exception, a second te can be started in place of a wr or rb. This gives extra power to te’s, the lowest scoring position. A second te becomes a real deal. Even in the draft, a team with gronk is a threat to take Kelsey! In addition, 2 te plays are a real football strategy! Unlike three rbs or two qbs.
Fantasy football will never be a perfect game. I agree that the unused qbs are an untapped resource but adding a second one at full strength is not solving the problem with the points. Solve the points problem first. When this is closer, maybe, then add a second qb. Doubling the problem is like voting Trump in again.

But I feel the schoolyard pick needs to be in a three year cycle. This gives enough info to know how each team did. Then this info needs to be used to "draft" the other teams. This is a six year commitment. Three years to find out and three years to see how that unveils.
On the other hand, the "bubble" system is only a two year cycle. Year one to play and year two to re-align. In either choice, all we are doing is speculating what one is the best.
I propose we try the bubble system for a year and if it is a disaster we reconsider. But if it seems to play out ok, we continue it for a second year to truly know if this system works out. It is the shorter of the two. Thanks, E.

I think this is a lot of speculation on what idea is best. In my other league we would randomly draw from a hat each year. Not my idea, but it seemed to be a fair solution to some complaints. After the third year we dismissed it due to the fact that Dave had picked number 12 all three years. You only get one shot for an entire year. I love the 'school yard pick' idea, but three years of anyone being picked last is not fun. Having to publicly say that isn't fun either. And, the person who made the second of last choice is the one who actually decides, but passes the buck onto the last person. This is about friendly competition and I think it could get out of hand with only one person getting hurt. It is just a thought. On the other hand, I suggested that we try the tier system for a year or two to see if we like it. It is only a one year commitment unlike the schoolyard, it should be at least three years in my opinion. If we feel it is broken, reopen the discussion. On the tier system, I would like to see some sort of group 'power' happen. Maybe, if you at in the last group, all three have to make the Saturday breakfast! If you are in the first group you get to pick your seat. ( I would love to actually take Kents seat at the poker table!) But an idea for each group would be fun.

| I think it is possible to play three tight ends on the site. This is a tool to help run the league, and just because you can do something does not mean it is ok. Rules meeting results!!!

1. There will be an Injured Reserve slot, added. This will be a one way trip for the entire year. If the player comes back, he will not be available to start. This would be used to retain a franchise player for the next year or a rookie. Drafted injured rookies could be put in this slot.
2. The roster size has been reduced by one player, the 3rd QB. This will free up 12 players into free agency, making it more active.
3. We will retain the +7 draft order.
4. We will retain the franchise player position.
5. No viable solution was reached on scoring changes.
6. The rookie rule has been re-instated. Last years rookies are not eligible. Rookies must be drafted and continually be on a roster, but can be traded.
7. Entering the play-offs will remain the same. The order of the seeds will change. They will be now be put in the following order: Record, points for, points against, ro-sham-bo.
8. We will add an additional free agency on sunday at 10:00 am.
9. Free agency will now have a tie breaker. Lowest record wins. Lowest points will get the second tie, if available.
10. Re-structuring the divisions will be looked into further. We may vote on this at the draft.
11. The "I have no franchise player round will be moved to the end of the 1st round. 12th picking first.
12. Franchise players are still due on draft day. Rookies, one week before the draft.
13. The two "D" slots are only usable for "D's." The two Kicker slots can only be used for kickers. This will add more players to the free agency pool.

Keith and I have been hashing out ideas for putting a news feed on the site. We are thinking of having a choice of sites and you pick the one you like. If you like Espn, CBS sports, Roto wire, or whatever, you can choose. He may even have some "hot link" buttons so if there is a lone page from some site you like, it will load that one. So, lets say, you want the injury report from the NFL, but no other news from that site, click you "hot link" and you can see who is injured!
Also, an average ranking sheet for players. This would take the rankings for a few popular sites and average them out. Currently they start in alphabetical order but are then adjusted by how many points they have scored, YTD. |

Week three rules meeting.

First off, we decided making unaddressed rules changes minutes before the draft is foolish. You will now have to post any new rule changes before July 1st, on this message board, to give us time to problem solve. We will then have a rules meeting in the beginning of August to make these changes.
Changing the rookie rule and limiting the franchise play was short sighted. This rule is woven into the plus-seven draft order. If this happens eight teams will not get a 1st round pick when we have to toss in all the players, if that's the case. In addition the rule was unclear if players could be traded and then kept by another team. These votes are unfair and shortsighted so they are void. It does not mean it will not happen, it means the problems will have to be worked out and we will look at it in the august rules meeting.

| This is a main core item of this league and many rules are built around this. To bring it up after drinking and then voting without exploring later problems was short sighted. The idea of it making the draft uninteresting baffles me, as I found amazing players in the 11th round and in free agency! Also, there are other problems with trading franchise players. If your roster is not correct, you will get the lowest amout.

| Thus, if you start two QB's from two different teams, you get the lowest score. same is true if you start any extra position on error. It is your team and your responsibility. Starting lineups are still 1 QB(two if the second is from the same team), 2 RB's, 3 WR's, 1 TE, 1 K, and one D. A second TE may be substituted in for one of your RB's or WR's. | I felt that the spirit of the rule was to not ruin a teams season due to injury. The injury seemed to be that he may be ready on the opener, but then thats just starting to play. Current scoring system vs. "pick your draft spot"
|
|

Picking your draft spot, to me, seems to be a good idea on the surface but only causes more problems in the long run. Currently a Qb scores twice as much a a rb and three times as much as a wr. If this problem is not adressed it will lean, even more, towards teams with stellar QBs winning the championship. QB's are so over powered that the top player picked this year had all ready missed 9% of our regualar season. The losing teams qb was picked shortly after that!
Part of this is due to the scoring system we have and to trends in the NFL. Just like when the NFL changes rules to adjust to the changes in the game, we should too. For the most part, TD's should be the base for scoring and therefore rushing TD's should stay at 6. But we could increase yardage points for other positions, nerf yardage for QB's, offer "points per reception", or decrease QB's TD points to 3. A "standard scoring system" could also help acheive this. With the changes in the NFL's passing yardage, the top ranked QB's are consitently hitting the "super bonus" that was rarely hit in years past.
I feel we need to adjust this scoring system in some form befor before we can even consider changing the draft order. not to mention the fact that I earned my spot under last seasons rules and can get voted out of what I earned is truely unfair! Rule changes like these should at the least be voted in for the following year. They solve no major emergency problem and are "flavor" rules, at best.
Please let me know what you feel are the pros and cons of both the "pick your spot" and the scoring system. Thanks and may the god of thunder bless you. |

| Zach seems to be eliminated from the playoffs. This is not a move to win this year. His franchise player is more suspect than mine (and I don't like mine.) He has a rookie options before the trade. In my opinion he still has no option worth while after the trade (the rookie rule is only usefull for RB's.) I would only be looking for options for next year, I don't think he has. On the other hand, it's not my friggin' team and he should do with it as he wishes. Maybe he likes Maclin and wants him as a rookie? Who knows. In any event Zach is the manager and should be able to do with it as he wishes. |

| I feel the qualifications for a vote should be collusion. If someone makes a trade that is unbalanced, start trading with them. Problem solved. If you start trying to measure value, where does it end? Can we call shananigans on a draft pick? It sounds more like sour grapes to me. Two others didn't accept the trade offers made to them. Maybe we should vote if they should have taken the offers given to them! |

| My friend Dave who took care of my responsibilities last year is currently in Iraq and all of my local family has moved too far away ta boot. That and the fact that I am now back in school made it too complicated to be there. I was, also, looking forward to thanking Will for getting me Chad Johnson this year. It would have been a real waste to have him for a lowly two games! Again, sorry, I truely did want to be there, I had a blast last year.....a huge hangover but a blast. E. |

| Dillon was hurt when this trade was put up. TO (the best WR in the game) with a suspension for an injured Dillon and A stud WR for a stud RB. I didn't know Dillon practiced, and was said to play this week, untill the trade went through. I don't know how much this changes everything but it should change everyones veiws at least a bit. Oh, IMHO Caddy is a Franchise player as is TO. Dillon is too old to be a franchise player. I'll talk with Keith and see what he says. |

| The TE position makes for more even teams on draft day. If we just up the points there is no point. Everyone would just have higher scores. If we eliminate it we just get closer to a "who has the best player" game. The TE position may only have 2-3 prime players on draft day, but then again isn't that true with all positions? Preist & LT, Harrison & Moss, and Manning and Culpepper. It seems like Heap and Gonzo fit right in. If you don't get the studs, you need to make it up somewhere else. Even FA had a stud TE avalible. I feel like everone could see that Heap and Gonzo were the prime guys. I wanted LT, the price was too high, oh well. |

| Any player can be put on IR and taken off IR. When that players team starts their weekly game you can not remove them from IR untill all stats are put in for that week. If this player does anything in the game he is released into free agency. Thus, you could manipulate the system a bit (ie putting Gus Ferrotte on ir) but if he did play it would do you no good. He would be released and you waised your CP's for nothin'. |
