I'll dig into it and confirm that Cam Akers does indeed not suck. Also, there is a link in the footer of the website where you can report stat errors ("have a question or report an issue?") and when you submit a support ticket there it gets hyper-spaced fast tracked.
Not sure if folks are still on board for a football social on this upcoming Sunday, October 9th... I'm still game, if there is interest in it. I'm also totally cool to do it on Sunday, October 16th.
We can do it here at my place or at anyone else's house - I'm amphibious. If we do it here, I'll fire up my smoker and do an overnight smoke of both a Boston butt and also a pork picnic, so that it'll be ready for pulling at kickoff on Sunday. I'll also make some homemade coleslaw and vinegar sauce for the pulled pork. If we do it at someone else's house, I'll bring snack food and session ales.
If we do a football social, I'll probably also invite Jeffrey from the Midgard league. He lives in Graham and we have met a few times to have beers and watch MNF at a local bar. And Zach's friend Ian (in the Aurora league) seems to live in Chapel Hill and it might be fun to also invite him.
Let's dial in our plans, if any, so that details can be acted upon. What is the consensus, gentlemen?
I think this may not be as complicated as it appears on the surface? An official trade happened and cannot be "undone," a traded player was officially started and then became injured, and a player who started cannot be traded until the next week begins (just like a player who started cannot be waived for free agency in the same week).
Therefore, this is a fairly straightforward process. Tua's trade should go through and Tua should be started. And then once Week 5 arrives on Tuesday morning, it is up to the Gamblers and Bruins to determine if they want to do any more trades that involve Tua. Prior to then, they can also decide if they want to do any kind of re-re-re-reverse trades for the other players involved in the original trade (and perhaps have a gentleman's agreement for next week). As long as there is not anti-competitive collusion (such as planning to trade for a bye week and then trade back afterwards, or planning to spitefully stack a team for the playoffs), trades are legal. Even when being Mr. Nice Guy.
Once Week 5 arrives, it's totally up to those owners to decide if they want to delve into a philosophical discussion about fantasy football honor. As a league, we don't need to concern ourselves with any sense of "fairness" or trying to determine if the Miami Dolphins medical staff was negligent, etc. And we certainly don't want to introduce subjectivity about post-trade injury considerations or about whether or not our league needs to approve trades. We all know that trades that don't involve the Thunder are honorable. And if we ever determine that anti-competitive collusion was attempted, that is a capital offense and the consequences would match the crime.
With all of this being said, I think our current rules set is ok but we could flesh it out a bit more if there are any gaps or anything that could be improved by additional verbiage.
I did notice that in the other leagues, it is illegal for Team A and Team B to trade a player and then trade that player back. We currently don't have that in our rules book and maybe that's a good thing because if we did then the discussed scenario would be legally nixed. The reason that rule exists in other leagues is because it is the most direct way to prevent shenanigans by random owners. But in Ragnarok, we have a stellar and permanent ownership group. I don't know if this type of rule should be added to our rules book, but I'm open to it if someone wanted to make a case for doing so.
This affects the Medical Center and the Dynasty. From the official United Nations report filed by representatives of the Koo Dynasty:
"If I'm reading the free agency tiebreaker rule correctly, Logan Thomas should be on the Dynasty, not WRMC. Both teams bid 3. The first tiebreaker is a wash as both teams had the same record. The second tiebreaker is lower YTD points--WRMC had 78 to the Dynasty's 61 at the time of this bid.
If this is correct, than Logan Thomas should replace Hunter Henry on the Dynasty's roster and 2 MB should be subtracted from the Dynasty (-3 for the bid on Henry, but +1 for the bid on Hunter Henry that is now irrelevant); and Marvin Jones should replace Logan Thomas on WRMC's roster with 3 MB added back to WRMC's roster.
Unless I'm misunderstanding the rules or the rules the way they are written on our Rules page are out of date?"
With Halloween at the end of October, followed by Billy's birthday bash at the casino in the second week of November, maybe the best target date for a football social would be on the afternoon of Sunday, October 9th?
We can do it out at my house or anyone else's house.
Maybe we could just aim to get the draft done by 7pm on Saturday. Maybe a noon start, for the second half of the draft?
Also, I'd put in $20 towards a group tip/bribe for one of Billy's coworkers to take his shift; if it gets high enough, someone might take it. If our bribe attempt fails, will you be able to come out on Sunday morning (or drive out here after work)?
Please jump into the Drafthouse Week 1 Draft Room sometime during the day, in order to verify that you will be able to smoothly join us when it comes time to draft this evening. If you run into any issues accessing the draft room, please let me know and we'll work through it. Thanks!
We'll have 3 couches and probably 2+ airbeds (confirmation later today), and can provide linens and blankets for these. But we don't really have many bed pillows, so if you are sleeping in the house then it may be good to bring your own bed pillow unless you enjoy sleeping with sofa pillows.
Alex is going to bring sandwich fixings (bread, meat, cheese), artichoke dip, pita chips, and burger/dog buns.
I'm tossing in Beyond Burgers and real meat sausages and bratwursts for the buns. I'm also going to provide black beans and tortilla fixings, along with homegrown salsa and hot sauces and chips. And the aforementioned two giant jars of homemade pickled eggs along with a few dozen fresh eggs.
Despite having some misfortune in chicken land this year (went from 16 hens to 10), our hens are hitting their egg laying stride and so I'll have a few dozen eggs available for cooking. I also pickled two different batches of our eggs for snacks.
Hopefully we can save an egg for Zach's face after his draft.
It is hereby proposed that if a player is in the Fucking Lockbox and they suffer a significant injury in the Thursday night game, then that previously submitted lockbox pick can be nullified by the submitter and they can make a regular selection.
This is because our intention of having a lockbox for Thursday night games is to reflect a normal pick if that game took place after our draft. If a player became seriously injured just before our draft, said player would not be drafted at their normal round (or even drafted at all). We don't want to harm competitive balance just because of some disastrously bad luck on Thursday.
Rocket fuel. Check. Computer navigator enabled. Check. Van Allen radiation belt shields installed. Check.
All we need at this point is for everyone to lock in their ownerships by paying the dues at LeagueSafe. Because the first Draft is on Wednesday, if there are any ownerships not paid for by Monday then we'll have to start looking for paying owners. So please go ahead and settle up before then. Thanks!
"Washington Commanders rookie running back Brian Robinson is in stable condition at a hospital after being shot multiple times during an attempted carjacking in Washington D.C., a source with knowledge of the situation told ESPN."
Looking at past seasons, we've been waiting until Week 1 to do Free Agency (specifically, the day before the opening Thursday night game in Week 1). It is hereby proposed that we have one Free Agency session on the Thursday before Labor Day (September 1st this year), assuming that the auction is completed.
Wow, Midgard has existed for 21 YEARS! We have to be in elite company in terms of the oldest slow auction leagues still in existence.
Looking at past seasons, we've been waiting until Week 1 to do Free Agency (specifically, the day before the opening Thursday night game in Week 1). It is hereby proposed that we have one Free Agency session on the Wednesday before Labor Day (August 31st this year), assuming that the auction is completed.
My house will be open for guests from Thursday all the way through to Monday, just like the schedule we've had in the past. Anyone can come for any and all of those nights/days. It'd be fun to watch the opening Thursday night game with the boys if anyone can start their weekend early. There are three sofas plus floor space (I have one or two airbeds but feel free to bring your own if you have one), plus camping space outside.
For food, I'm trying to find a decent used gas grill but have surprisingly come up empty so far. I do have a classic Weber kettle grill (uses charcoal), plus a meat smoker, plus a new ceramic grill/smoker. These are available to anyone who wants to use them. We have two refrigerators and I'm going to try to clear out as much space as possible before the weekend, but bring your coolers as usual. The garden is winding down in preparation for the fall and winter crops, but I'll have nearly unlimited hot peppers available for cooking (including stuffed/wrapped and grilled/smoked jalapenos).
For entertainment, we have a lot of action on the docket. I'm going to set up an 18 hole Efland Open croquet course that will be inspired by miniature golf. We'll also have cornhole (albeit generic cornhole unless Zach brings his boards). And a sauna and a pool, so bring your swimsuits (just got a new liner this year, too). And we have two Oculus VR headsets for a miniature golf tournament, complete with casting to the TV so that everyone can watch the matches. If anyone can bring another Oculus, that would be amazing (I think up to 8 can play together).
We'll also have a poker game, of course. And I have a firepit in the backyard.
If it rains, I think that'll be fine because there is a carport where any tents could be moved out of the rain if needed. Also, there is a covered porch for smokers even if it rains. So I think we can't get "rained out." And swimming in the rain is fun.
The current plan for the Ragnarok Draft is to do a handful of rounds on Friday night and then finish up the remainder starting sometime on Saturday (early) afternoon. That schedule will accommodate anyone who wants to go golfing on Saturday, as well as if Eric has to deliver mail on that day.
I hope to see as many of you guys as possible, for as long as possible!
This "Walkabout" VR putt-putt is amaze-balls and I'm really excited about a little putt-putt tournament on Draft Weekend. That being said, I really do not want any kind of advantage due to practicing or hole knowledge. I just want genuine fun that is also fair and competitive.
Playing this game, I think the core mechanics are intuitive and available within minutes. Playing random multiplayer online reveals some info advantages, where you know some opportunities on holes by banking in certain places or bouncing off of particular rock (even so, skill is required). That being said, I venture to say that this same information is readily available to everyone via a cursory search on YouTube.
And so I think it would be fun to let everyone play with the game for a day and then we all decide what course we want to play and then let everyone practice the declared course before we put in some cheddar and play FOR REALS. I'll even share everything that I know about the course (which won't be much, honestly). I won't have any advantage and it'll be fun as hell.
Let's do a hardcore money putt-putt tournament on Sunday morning after Free Agency. Anyone not at the draft can also participate if they have an Oculus.
As soon as Rio creates an account here on customizedfootball.com, I'll Reflex and assign him a team and then The Wild Boys will be one step closer to auctioning. He better be Hungry Like the Wolf because I've got A View to a Kill.
So far there has been no response from Terrence, and we are quickly reaching the point where a replacement owner will need to be found. Actually, since the auction starts in just a few days we're kind of at that point already.
We should assume that we'll have at least 1 opening in Aurora. Everyone should feel free to recruit any friends, family, coworkers, or arch nemesis to join our league and take Terrence's spot.
We're a mere week away from starting our slow auction, and we need to get everyone locked in so that we know that we'll have a smooth launch. I haven't heard anything from Travis or Terrence yet, despite a few attempts at communication including direct email.
Guys, if you still want to join us for Aurora 2022 then please let me know and also head on over to LeagueSafe in order to pay the league dues. Unfortunately, if I don't hear anything within a day or two then I'll have to assume the worst and start recruiting so that we will have a full league when the auction starts. Hope to hear from you!
Yeah, I know I may have a reputation for having an active imagination open mind, but last night Jacqueline and I think we saw a UFO. We've never seen anything like it.
We were driving home from the Rage Against the Machine concert and picked up our son at Alex's house in Chapel Hill, then got onto interstate 40 at exit #266 and headed west. At 11:57pm, we both saw a very large bright object straight ahead but off in the distance and about 30 degrees above the horizon. If you hold a pea between your thumb and forefinger and extend your arm, that's about how big it was in the sky. It was quite big and bright.
It was way larger than any planet or star, and it was not the moon nor a meteor. It hung in the sky without moving and was very, very bright. There were no flashing red or green lights and it was not an aircraft. I thought it had an orange hue but Jacqueline says she saw it as bright white.
This light was so large and unusual that I immediately grabbed my phone in order to take a video. While I was fumbling to hit the Record button, we both watched this large bright orb fold into itself and become a small dot and then completely disappear. Unfortunately, I did not get a good photo or video of it.
Nothing can really explain what it was. It was not a planet, star, moon, meteor, or airplane. It was so large that it could not have been someone's drone. I'm not saying it was alien, but it definitely was an unidentified flying object like nothing we have ever seen before. We really can't explain it away.
"If an NFL rookie spends the entire season on an inactive list and never plays a down of football, and this rookie was never rostered on a Ragnarok team, that player is then considered to be a rookie in the following year when they become an active player in the NFL. This could even involve more than one year of injury if it spans multiple consecutive seasons and all criteria is met."
Thank gosh Stu has such a good memory, and what he said kind of rings a bell for me. I think we decided to be conservative about letting injured players be considered rookies in their second year in the NFL if they were never active in their first year.
That being said, I think it's fair to open this up for discussion. Is there a downside to letting a player like Etienne be a draftable rookie in 2022, assuming he was inactive for the entire 2021 season?
Thanks to Joe being a master woodworker, we'll have a cornhole set for the weekend. My boards aren't painted, but I do have some sweet "Skullsplitters 5" cornhole bags that everyone can use.
I'm planning on firing up my new smoker on both Friday and Sunday. No idea what we'll be cooking on it, but it'll be smokin' and so anyone is welcome to use it. I also have an old fashioned and classic Weber charcoal grill that we can use. Hopefully I'll have an easy outdoor gas grill by then, too, but that's dependent upon if I can find a decent used one at a fair price.
I've been canning lots of different salsas using only garden grown ingredients, about 20 pints so far. I've got over 40 pepper plants in the garden and should have lots of sweet and hot peppers if anyone feels inspired. I'll save up a bunch of jalepenos for some cheese stuffed and bacon wrapped action on the grill.
Definitely bring your swim suits, as the sauna and pool are in play. We put a new liner in the pool this year and Alex came over yesterday and helped me put up shade sails over the pool. Wow, that really makes it a comfortable hang out spot even on a blistering and hot sunny day.
"Great talking to you as well. I greatly appreciate keeping my seat warm but as my circumstances with my moms care have not changed I need to decline. I donít have enough energy for much else these days. Hopefully that will change at some point as my sister and I are exploring alternative care options for my mom.
I do want that beer though and would love to see your garden. Iím usually free Fri to Sun and earlier is better.
Ragnarok rules! Scott"
It is definitely the right thing to ask Scott whenever we have an opening. From talking with him, it seems that challenges are increasing and so it didn't work out this time.
With that being said, and being that Alex has been approved by the Ownership Committee and that no other nominations have been put forth, I'd like to move forward and officially welcome Alex into the league.
He's still in the same situation as last year, with taking care of his mom who needs regular hands-on care. I gave him the rundown with the past year of Ragnarok and told him that the league will always give him the right of first refusal for any new ownership openings. He said that he's going to think about it and will let us know, so I'm guessing that he'll share his thoughts with us in the next few days.
Since Tommy's name has been brought up, I'd like to share my thoughts. While my hope with the ownership topic is to turn the proverbial page and establish some positivity in Ragnarok moving forward, we may as well dive back into the morass of 2021 one more time.
Using the phrase "incredible fit" to describe Tommy's chapter in Ragnarok history reveals the schism that took place in 2021. Maybe if you were one of the "cool kids" you had an incredible fit with Tommy, but if you weren't in that group then the experience was quite different.
The anger and damage aftermath from the Draft Weekend was as I said earlier this year: "pointless and poisonous." I hope time will heal the wounds and also allow for some accountability and a lessening of the self-righteousness, because that directed anger was unjustified, disrespectful, and damaging. And all for what? To find someone to blame for what will never be known and for what could have been brought by a vaccinated person all along. Tommy and a few others led the charge and the finger pointing and didn't budge an inch even after our Week 7 league meeting. That indignation and victimization attitude persisted and for all I know it still exists today.
I heard through two different people that in the first two weeks Tommy was already pissed off enough that he declared that he was going to quit the league. Btw, I didn't hear this from Tommy because Tommy only talked to his few cool friends and wouldn't return my phone calls.
Tommy also wouldn't acknowledge trade offers nor return any communications regarding the offers. This was my personal experience and I've been told that other owners had a similar lack of simple acknowledgement.
So here's a guy who fomented anger and schisms in the league, decided right away that he was quitting the league, wouldn't return calls, and wouldn't even acknowledge trade offers or followup communications... and he's someone that is a "perfect fit" and we should beg for him to come back to Ragnarok? What am I missing here? Are we that desperate? Or were his interactions so different with some owners vs others?
Personally, I don't see why Ragnarok should compromise itself in terms of league ownerships - especially when there is no need to do so. If someone quits the league out of anger, let 'em go live in Quitsville. I don't need to beg someone to move back to Ragnarok. We can find someone else who actually appreciates and respects the league and the other owners and will act accordingly.
In my book, at this time I only see two people to consider for the opening: Scott and Alex. Tommy isn't on the list for the reasons that I just outlined.
I hadn't thought about Scott until Stu brought up his name, because it seems like it was just yesterday that Scott hung up his Ragnarok jersey in order to take care of his mom. I would imagine that he is still in that same situation, but maybe there have been changes in his life and he would have the desire to be back in Ragnarok. I think Scott deserves to be the first one asked anytime that we would have an open team.
If someone wants to nominate another name, now is the time to do so. Let's try to figure this out in a timely manner so that we can turn the page, have a clean deck on the ship, and set sail for better waters.
Ok, Gentlemen, it is time to address the big dangling thread: New ownership.
As the chairman of the Ownership Committee, Kent has conducted in-person interviews and the final recommendation of the committee is for Alex M. to take over the vacant ownership.
Alex grew up in Idaho but now lives in Chapel Hill and has been playing fantasy football for 9 years. He got 4th place in his inaugural auction debut in Midgard last year and was the biggest social leader of all the owners. In addition to meeting with Kent and playing board games, Alex and his wife have been coming out to my house since last summer and it is always a grand time.
He is also a Lions fan, so it would be hilarious to watch the homer futility.
If anyone has anyone that they would like to nominate, now would be the time. This is a gentlemen's club and everyone is equal. Let's get everything on the table and then make the best ownership decision as a group. Let's light this Ragnarok 25 rocket!
Hard to believe, but we are a mere 3 months away from the big Draft Weekend. Oh boy, let the PTSD begin!
For 2022, we'll be going Old School and won't be renting a luxurious house for 4 nights. Instead, there will be a semi-luxurious location available for 2 nights.
I'm opening up my house for anyone that wants to socialize in person, just like the old days. The pool and sauna will be open, and there will also be cornhole and a professional croquet course set up. The garden will hopefully be a-poppin' and its bounty will be available for any cooking aspirations. Rumor has it that there are nearby golf courses.
Anyone can stay here, either inside on a couch or self-supplied air mattress or outside in a tent in the yard. Or you can just show up for the draft itself. There will not be any required Covid tests or masks or the like. Just be a common-sense and thoughtful person like I know each of you are.
There will be no pressure and no expectations for attending, so any social gathering in person is a total bonus in my book.
We'll do the (online) draft either in the large living room or outside, depending on everyone's comfort levels. If it rains, we'll still have the option of an outside draft venue underneath the carport.
We'll be using a free Zoom account and will simply reset the meeting every 40 minutes.
We'll start the Zoom meeting at 7:45pm Eastern time. The link will be sent out either Wednesday or Thursday.
Submit your picks to the fucking lockbox by Thursday night! You can even submit multiple revised picks, with only the latest version being relevant. Picks can be submitted up until the first pick in the NFL Draft is selected. And don't forget, the winner of this pool gets their Ragnarok 2022 dues paid up!
It seems that Zoom has gotten rid of their monthly plan, but there may be better options out there regardless. I recently came across the Brave browser and am very impressed so far. It's legitimately a privacy browser that originates from a fork of the Chrome codebase, but it stripped out all of the bloat caused by the invasive tracking and extra CPU usage and resulting increased internet bandwidth. You'll be surprised by how much data is sent back and forth to aggressively track your activities (it has a neat dashboard that keeps a running comparative summary).
Anyways, Brave has built in and free video conferencing. It doesn't require a separate app to install (like Zoom does). The only thing needed is the Brave browser. If you want more than 4 people in the meeting, it does take a Premium plan but that has a free 30 day trial (and is $7/month after that). So if we want, we could all get the Brave browser and Eric the MC can start his free 30 day trial and orchestrate the rest.
I know that you are a stubborn Luddite holdout when it comes to LeagueSafe, but you could do the prize payout directly to Ragnarok's LeagueSafe and that would pay for the winner's dues. That would eliminate some steps and also be a direct straight-up prize for me the winner.
Gentlemen, many moons have passed since the start of the past season and another Ragnarok planet is quickly approaching. I'm not sure of everyoneís stances, but I'd like to officially kickoff the mission to launch a rocket to land on planet Ragnarok 25.
As part of the preflight checklist, I think a few things need to be thought about and some calibrations may need to be considered. I love you all and I offer the following clipboards with the best of intentions.
The reason why I care about Ragnarok so much is because ultimately it is not about football. It's about friendship, brotherhood, and the bigger picture. This means that we should aspire to those ideals first, and then only fall to baser instincts if all else fails.
Unfortunately, I believe that our illustrious league forgot some of those principles in the season where we were all so excited to return to Ragnarok after a year off. There were five weeks of infuriation and blame and silence. The pervading sentiment was that there was betrayal and deceit and culpability. There were none of those, my friends, and yet even the passage of time did not seem to show a mellowing of those positions.
There should not have been a witch hunt to try to figure out who brought Covid to the party. It's an impossible task and even a vaccinated person could have been the carrier. That entire effort to cast blame was pointless and poisonous. And it seems that the poison is still in our system.
We need to be better, even under times of high stress. I hope that we can do this. I love every one of you and I am staying in the league because of the bigger picture. I hope that our fundamental philosophies about brotherhood can be rediscovered. I'm going to be here and I hope that everyone will join me in making Ragnarok what we say it is.

All 8 teams are also playing for cash this week, with all matchups having a laddered money payout all the way down to 7th place. I'll dig up and repost the old newspaper article that has all the payout amounts (not sure why the newspaper history is missing).
I'll wait until 8pm eastern time before I finalize the draft slots and create the draft room. Please be sure that you are setting your slot preferences, if desired.
The Covid has been lurking around all season but when 10% of all NFL players get on the list within a week, it really undermines all of our collective efforts for being competitive.
Not only are individual players unexpectedly lost each day of the week, but entire NFL teams are decimated. Why do you think Joe Burrows went off this week? It may have something to do with the entire Ravens defense being out with Covid. We spend the offseason and the summer planning our teams and matchups, and then it all goes to poop. In one league I lost my three best WR's to Covid in the same week, leaving me only 2 WR's and an incomplete roster and I barely lost in the semi-finals. It kind of sucks. Concerns for this type of scenario is why I took off the 2020 season last year.
It seemed that we were going to get lucky in 2021, but as soon as we had the playoffs bracket set and the rosters locked down it all went to heck.
Unfortunately, there isn't a perfect solution. The roster lockdown is a deliberate design so that the best team is recognized for stacking their roster and running the gauntlet. The last thing we want is for a team to pick up a league winning free agent in Week 16 and have that determine the league champion - such a scenario undermines the entire season. However, we also don't want situations where many teams lose so many of their starters to Covid and they can't field a competitive team. I think we'll need to revisit some of these rules for 2022 so that we can find that balance.
Holy cow, boys! We are in the final week of the regular season!
For this final week, we'll be doing a Drafthouse Dogpile (my attempt at alliteration). Everyone will be playing everyone else, and the top 6 scoring teams will get a Win. This is because our first 14 weeks have a symmetrical schedule and we don't want asymmetry when it comes to schedule strength.
I'll be putting in placeholder matchups so that we can see the fantasy scores throughout the week. After that, I'll rearrange the matchups so that the top 6 scoring teams face off against the bottom 6 scoring teams and then the standings will get updated.
Great news, too! EVERYONE is still in the playoff hunt. Only three (3) teams have clinched a playoff spot and the remaining teams are all fighting for the last playoff spot. No one has been eliminated!
Don't forget! Free Agency will be closing after this upcoming Sunday. Aurora does not have Free Agency during the playoffs, as we have very large rosters and want to reward teams that have the depth and planning to make it through the playoffs gauntlet.
For Week 14, Aurora will be doing a Royal Rumble and all teams will essentially play each other. The top six scoring teams will get 1 Victory Point.
I thought we had decided this in the summer, but I'm not finding a record of it in the forum.
I think I remember us deciding that we were going to have everyone play everyone in Week 14. The top 6 scoring teams get a Win and the bottom 6 scoring teams get a Loss.
That will give us a full 14 week schedule and then we can do our playoffs in Weeks 15-17 (when there are no byes).
Just to spoof it for the software platform, I'll probably have to set up placeholder head-to-head matchups that have no meaning besides allowing scores to be tallied. After Week 14 is finished, I'll probably rearrange the head-to-head matchups to have W-L relationships just so the software will pick up that data and incorporate it into the overall standings, etc.
I put that one in this morning. There are a few tricky stats that currently require manual attention, and blocked punts for TDs is one of them. Points Against can also be tricky, depending on the type of defensive scores that took place. And the biggest one to watch for is any 2-pt score. I usually update these when I'm watching the games or when the game ends.
And for the quickest response, check out the Stat/Score Reporting form. That creates a centralized report item in the admin area that handles stats, and it also sends a text to my phone to let me know right away to put down my beer and update a stat or kick the stat jukebox.
Even with 4 WR's the Chin Straps couldn't overcome the mighty Raving Hermits. I'm sure it was an accidental oversight, as this website doesn't enforce lineup requirements but merely alerts the team owner that the lineup is not legit. It'd probably be a good idea to add that enforcement at some point, but for now it is what it is.
Please try to login and enter the draft room well in advance of our 9:15pm (Eastern) start time. If you have any issues, let me know your username that you are trying to use (either post it here on the forum or text me at 919-428-3245). Thanks!
Please go to your team homepage and pick your draft slot preference for tonight's draft. You'll need to select your preferences by 8pm eastern time. If this is not done, you'll simply default to a position based on your overall standings.
Here is what I am doing for treatment for myself and my son (not everything, plus dosages scaled down for him), based on my doctor's instructions. I offer this information because starting this right away offers more benefits than waiting until things get worse.
"FOR TREATMENT TAKE THESE: Vitamin D3 15,000 IU/day Zinc 15mg 4 times a day Vitamin C 500mg twice a day Quercetin 250mg/day Niacin 100mg daily x 14 days then continue till resolved NAC 600mg daily x 14 days then continue till resolved Aspirin 325 mg daily for at least 14 days or until feeling back to normal Zyrtec or Claritin standard dose daily for 14 days Pepcid 20 mg twice a day for 14 days Chlorhexidine mouthwash gargles AND Betadine nasal spray 3 times a day. Steamed essential oil inhalation 3 times a day, like vaporub.
MY INPUT: I DON'T HAVE CHLORHEXIDINE MOUTHWASH BUT WE ARE USING AN ANTISEPTIC MOUTHWASH.
*D3 will take 2 weeks to become activated in the body, it is important your D3 levels are normal before you get infected. Unless you know you have normal D levels or you have been taking at least 3000IU of D3 daily for at least 3 months, assume you may be low and take a one time dose of 100,000 IU D3 right away, then start on 3-5k IU per day. Also important for general health is to combine K2 with vitamin D."
MY INPUT: I KNOW THE SUPER DOSE ON DAY 1 SEEMS INSANE. EVEN IF YOU DON'T GO 100,000 IU YOU CAN STILL SPIKE IT ON DAY 1 TO WHATEVER YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH. I HAVE BEEN TAKING 2000-4000 IU OF D3 EVERY DAY FOR MONTHS, IN ADDITION TO GETTING PLENTY OF SUNSHINE. I DON'T THINK MY D3 LEVELS ARE LOW, BUT I STILL DID A ONE TIME 50,000 IU DOSE YESTERDAY.
"**If you get sick I would switch to this if you can get it: Life Extension Enhanced Zinc Acetate lozenges. Upon the first sign of COVID or a cold (such as a sneeze, cough, fever, runny nose, scratchy throat, etc.), keep lozenge in your mouth all day long, when one dissolves replace it with another (dissolves in about 1-2 hours), continue for 48-72 hours stopping sooner if symptoms resolve."
MY INPUT: I HAVE A LOT OF THESE ZINC LOZENGES, SO IF ANYONE NEEDS SOME THEN LET ME KNOW AND I WILL SHARE.
"ONLY TAKE IF NOT ON FLUVOXAMINE:Melatonin: 6-10 mg per night before bed x 14 days (Take higher dose if needed for sleep) Melatonin is at bedtime 2 hours after eating.
Check oxygen level 4 times a day. Report if levels are dropping, and if below 94% I may need to start steroids. Below 90% should be seen in person by a doctor.
Check blood pressure and heart rate twice a day. BP below 90/50 is concerning and should be seen by a doctor.
Avoid exercise, alcohol, red meat and fast carbs completely for 30 days from the start of symptoms as the body is still inflamed these will both prevent full healing and can trigger long COVID symptoms.
Ivermectin at 0.4mg/kg (double the preventive dose). Take 2 doses daily for 5 days until recovery. If you feel better after 5 days you can drop to 1 every 72 hours for the remaining doses. If you do not feel better, continue taking 2 doses daily for a total of 14 days. Take with or just after eating a fatty meal."
Ok boys, my apologies because we're kind of winging it this week in Drafthouse. I was out of town from Thursday to Monday, and when I got back home I was sick with a fever.
Today, I tried to get some in-season rankings working but it was turning into a larger task that I won't have time to resolve before we start drafting tonight. You'll have to use the rankings from last week instead. To do so, select the empty/blank option in the My Rankings dropdown and then click "Load a copy".
Also, we won't have bye weeks listed this week. I'll be sure to get weekly rankings and bye weeks loaded before our Week 3 draft.
And next week, we'll also do the Pick Your Draft Slot approach.
Since we are all veterans of a thousand psychic wars, we'll just have to overcome these challenges for this draft.
Thanks for your patience, everyone. This has been a humdinger of a week.
I've been very busy in this past week and haven't had a chance to set up the Pick Your Draft Slot system. We'll have that in place for Week 3, but for tonight's draft we're going to have to go with the league rankings to determine our draft order.
virtual-to-fucking-lockbox conduit is now in place
After Thursday's kickoff, Jacqueline will open the lockbox emails and ferry them over to the fucking lockbox in our draft room. I've told her how to do it and she's all in. This solves the problem of how to get that information into our system without me seeing it. And then it's more fun and more importantly we can be assured of no mistakes in terms of what is in the lockbox vs how the draft actually played out.
I am planning out how to set up the physical draft room and podium, and have just one last thing to determine: How to set up a podium picking station that doesn't use my personal CustomizedDrafts account?
This can be easily done if any one owner was planning on going old school and not really using the website to manage their rankings, submit picks, etc. In that case, we'd simply login as that user on the podium computer and make that user the owner of the draft room and then the computer at the podium would have the editing interface.
Was anyone planning on going old school and not really using the draft website to manage rankings, queues, etc.?
Everyone should be able to access it, with two caveats.... Jim, you have two "showmethemoney" accounts on that website and so I picked one at random. If you can't get in, let me know. Matt, you'll need to create an account at Customized Drafts and then I'll be able to add you as a friend and give you access to the draft room.
Everyone, please make sure that you can access the draft room ahead of time. We would like to be as ready to go as possible at 9:15 Eastern Time on Wednesday.
Everyone can email their lockbox selections to "firstname.lastname@example.org" before kickoff on Thursday night's NFL game.
To reiterate, here are the rules:
1) It's the responsibility and requirement of the owner to announce that they had a lockbox selection when that pick arrives.
2) If the owner fails in this responsibility and it is later discovered that a lockbox pick was not announced and redeemed but it should have been, the owner is subject to a fine of 30 Megabucks.
3) At the end of the draft, the lockbox emails are revealed as being unopened and they are opened in front of everyone in order to verify the earlier declared lockbox picks. Just like we would have done with a physical fucking lockbox.
Everyone should be invited and can access it, except for the new guy. Tommy, sign up on that website and then I can make you a friend and add you to the draft room.
On another note, I was surprised to see that the Fucking Lockbox was enabled in the draft room and it is used to select players and make special announcements, *BUT* there is not currently any mechanism to get the lockbox selections into the database. This was shocking at first, but then I understood why I didn't get to that part in 2019 becaues it's very nuanced and there are a lot of user interfaces to build. So in 2019, it was just a test to verify that the lockbox picks get properly considered and revealed. But not the full feature.
Anyways, as much as I would love to build all of the UI and rules to handle this so that everyone can enter their own lockbox picks directly into the website, there is no way that I can pull that off in time. If I had known this before now, I would have done it a week ago.
There is not a way for us to have a physical fucking lockbox that everyone can use, either, since not everyone will be at the house on Thursday.
I'm proposing that we do a virtual fucking lockbox. I can set up a special email box and any lockbox picks can be emailed there before kickoff on Thursday, and these would be treated just like if we had a physical fucking lockbox. 1) It's the responsibility and requirement of the owner to announce that they had a lockbox select when that pick arrives. 2) If the owner fails in this responsibility and it is later discovered that a lockbox pick was not announced but should have been, the owner is subject to sanctions that we need to define. Perhaps a fine of 30 Megabucks. 3) At the end of the draft, the lockbox emails are revealed as being unopened and they are opened in front of everyone in order to verify the earlier declared lockbox picks. Just like we would have done with a physical fucking lockbox.
What are everyone's thoughts on the fucking lockbox? It would be nice to incorporate it somehow, considering how many stud players are in the Thursday night game.
i'll be working on it bigtime later today and tomorrow, but in the meantime do this: 1. go to your 2019 league 2. Copy your league - this will create a 2021 version 3. adjust your draft order, keepers, etc. in the new 2021 league 4. draft all of your Washington Football Team players
Jeremy and Sean, I see that y'all are getting tested on the Thursday the 7th and also arriving at the draft house on the 7th. I know that at least Sean is an arrogant mother fucker, but how are you going to get your test results before you arrive at the draft house?
when i first posted about bringing eggs for everyone, my chickens were laying about 8+ eggs each day. now it's down to 2. and so there goes my plan of bringing 5 dozen free range eggs - it ain't happening.
the houses' description says "grill" but i didnt' see one in any picture. not sure if we can plan on an outside grill?
it also says "pool table" but i didn't see one of those in any picture, either.
i'm planning on doing all of my shopping tonight or tomorrow morning, then hunkering down until my test on Sunday, followed by more hunkering down until leaving on Thursday.
I'm now scheduled to be tested on Sunday afternoon
Test results can take 1-2 days and I want to be sure to get my results before Thursday. Also, testing is closed on Monday (Labor Day) and it will be difficult for me to get away from work on Tuesday. And so I choose Sunday afternoon.
I'll be doing all of my shopping for Draft Weekend over the next couple of days (already started on the beer stash), so after my test I'll be staying at home until it's time to leave on Thursday. In addition, Jacqueline is not working on site next week and so she won't be leaving, either. And we've started home schooling Mars, so he won't be leaving the house either. I'll be tested and then put on ice until Thursday, with no exposure to anything whatsoever.
I had some reluctance when moving to a three division structure instead of four, because I really like the smaller divisions. But it seemed that there was no other choice because of the extra week in the NFL schedule: Either realign to three divisions or go divisionless.
However, we do have an Option C (thanks to Ragnarok's Jeremy for this idea): Keep the four divisions and the 13 week symmetrical schedule, but tack on a Week 14 regular season game where the top 6 scoring teams get a Win and the bottom 6 scoring teams get a Loss. And then have our playoffs in Weeks 15-17.
I know I made that really fun realignment video, but maybe we should chuck it out the window?
It really comes down to whether or not we want three divisions or four divisions? What does everyone think?
Since there was not a strong movement to do away with divisions, we'll be sticking with the symmetrical divisions philosophy and be moving from 4 divisions to 3 divisions in order to support the new, longer NFL schedule.
I'll generate a new Aurora schedule this week, based on the new division results.
Free agency will open up on Wednesday, 9/8. Football is back!
Ok, boys, it's hero time. We are a week away from our first draft and ownerships need to be locked in. So far, only Jim and I have paid at LeagueSafe but I have verbal commitments from a few of you but not everyone.
If there are owners who have never responded on the forum, texted or emailed me, or paid on LeagueSafe then I have to start to wonder if they do not want to be in Drafthouse this year. I kind of need to know this ASAP so that I will have enough time to recruit any replacements. I think the only ones that I'm not sure of at this point are Brian, Cory, and Aaron?
I've set up my own practice Ragnarok league on that platform and put in everyone's keepers and have been able to do customized mock drafts.
We'll be using this platform to do our official Ragnarok Draft, so everyone is encouraged to practice using it. If you do set up any of your own wishlists and notes, those will also be readily available in the draft room itself.
It had been mothballed for two years, so if you run into any issues please let me know.
I already told TBD this, so I don't know why he is involved in a trade.
There are very good reasons to not allow trades until the auction is completed. Any trade essentially nullifies the long running strategies and plans of all other owners and that is why it is a bad idea.
Unfortunately, Alan has been offline since 8/18 and multiple attempts to contact him have all come up empty. We reached a critical point where if this went on any longer then we would be jeopardizing our league competitiveness. This was not an easy decision, but one that had to be reluctantly done.
I hope that everything is ok with Alan. This is not like him to be missing in action.
Travis' friend will be taking over Alan's team. Thanks for joining us! If you have any questions or run into any issues, please feel free to reach out for any needed help.

Jacob will be taking over Alan's team. He'll be a most excellent addition to Midgard. Welcome aboard, Jacob!
I've reached out to Alan again, via text message and old fashioned email. I will try the voice over phone technique in an hour or so when it's a reasonable time to call. We'll either get Alan back on track or we'll consider immediate new ownership before this gets completely out of hand.
In all the years of having auctions, this is the first time I've seen where someone has paid league dues and then is a no show.
I think we still have one more opening, for Jayson's team. He hasn't paid dues nor has respondeed to emails, nor has logged in for awhile. Again, my apologies because this situation is completely my fault. Everyone, feel free to beat the bushes and find our last new owner!
This one is totally my bad, due to not being my usual whip in the months of June and July. I just found out that our rock "DD and Z" is not renewing for Midgard 2021. THAT MEANS THAT WE STILL HAVE ONE OWNERSHIP OPENING WITH A MERE 3 HOURS BEFORE OUR AUCTION BEGINS.
I've already send out pigeons. But please beat the bushes to see who can join our illustrious league. If we can't find anybody by midnight Eastern time tonight, we may have to delay our start by one day.
This is a dedicated message board for your league, Test Auction League. Like much of the Customized Football site, you can customize the colors on this page, as well as each owner has the ability to set their message board handle and owner picture.
League settings can be adjusted by the commissioner and any commissioner assistants, through the Commissioner Console (link is on the league homepage).
Team settings (owner picture, message board handle, team colors, etc.) can be adjusted by team owners via a link on their team homepage.
You were a lucky fellow to have such a great Uncle Bill. Isn't it interesting how the smallest things as a child or adolescent will stick with you your whole life? I think about that quite often as I try to be a good parent.
I think it's official: Jeremy has played fantasy football longer than anyone else in Ragnarok. And he still hasn't won since 2005.
And "Giant Bears" has to be the greatest name for a fantasy team, in light of its backstory.
Ok boys, it's time to get serious about Drafthouse 2021. I'd like to lock in the ownerships over the next couple of weeks so that in the unlikely event that we need an owner, we'll be able to find one in a timely manner.
We're still keeping the same format in terms of a weekly Wednesday night draft, starting on September 8th.
