Quick question--do we start out with free agency currency? Cause I got no beers at the moment. :(

I got a guy that's questionable, so I may want to switch out if possible.

Any thoughts on fractional scoring?

Any thoughts on fractional scoring?
I've played in several leagues, but haven't played in one w/fractional scoring yet. For those unaware, instead of getting 1 pt every 10 yards, you get .1 for every yard. Basically it usually results in similar point totals, but it doesn't require 10 yard intervals.

Anyone played with this in other leagues? If so, what did you think?

Interesting table. Everyone agrees Thomas is the man.
Keith, can you look at the Skyhawks/Breesy game? I noticed all of our players were showing as on the bench. I was able to 'fix' mine on the rosters page, but Breesy's players are still showing up as on the bench.

Also, props to New King. He and Darnold ended the regular season on a 6 game winning streak. I reckon the commish deserves some thumbs up too for how he handled the championship game under unusual circumstances.

Hell, I'm gonna pat my own back for sneaking into the playoffs after going 2-5, and having McCaffrey on bye for week 8.

Can't wait till next year when I claim my first 8bit championship. lol

This actually could have been worse. What if we hadn't caught the correction until next week--AFTER the championship game results? That would have been some fun.

Either that or the game never happened and I hallucinated it. (As a Panthers fan, I can't rule that out)

Actually if I had to hallucinate a game, I'd have us blowing out the Patriots by 40 in the Super Bowl. Except fantasy football is over by then so nevermind. I'd take the Patriots blowout during the regular season with RUN CMC getting 50+ pts. Also Brady gets 5 interceptions. (I don't have the Panthers D/ST, but that doesn't matter)

Divisions and Playoffs

Playoffs Idea
Last year we did 6 teams in the playoffs out of 12 teams. How about this year we make it 5 of 10? We can keep the same playoff format as last year, except the top seeded team gets a 1st round bye.

Also, division winners would get top 2 seeds. The next 3 (or however many would be decided)would be wild cards based on record.

^That’s my initial suggestion. What does everyone else think?

Draft Date? Draft Party?

Found it!
Heres a link to our discussion last year: http://www.customizedfootball.com/forum.asp?tid=6189&leagueID=403

Copied and pasted in last post:

* Winner of the losers bracket gets the #1 pick. Picks #2-6 are based on the rest of the results for the lowers bracket.

* Picks 7-12 are determined by by the winners bracket, in reverse order. The champion will get the #12 pick, and picks #7-11 are also determined by the results in the winners bracket.

* This picking order is then used to let owners choose their own draft slots next year. For example, if you have the #5 choice but would like to move down the draft order, you could select draft order position #10 for yourself (assuming it wasn't already taken by someone above you in the picking order).

* The official Draft Order will be revealed on August 1, 2018. There will be website forms that everyone submits in secret, and then when that date arrives then all selections will be revealed simultaneously.

...now I know why I partly remembered this. I'm fairly certain I won the loser's bracket last year. lol

As for draft order, didn't we decide last year it would be based on the final standings/playoff results? I'm sure if so, it's in a post somewhere. I'll start looking.

I just compared the two scenarios, and was a little surprised at what I found.

I think my chances of a playoff berth might actually be better under Rodgers proposal. lol (although I'm still not likely to get in)

That won't change my vote for what I think is the best solution. But I won't do it with much enthusiasm. :)

Maybe it's a conspiracy? :)
Maybe I should change my name to ConspiracySpeed. Amirite?

All kidding aside, I will likely not make the playoffs no matter what criteria is used. And you probably will because you've put together a good team despite a lot of adversity. More than likely, the same 6 teams will make it regardless of what's decided.

I like parts of all 3 proposals, including yours. I'm not a fan of the original tone it was presented, but that's entirely beside the point. I think we could all come up with about 15 different proposals, and yours would probably be in the top 3. I just like the one originally proposed by the commish better for the reasons I mentioned earlier.

On another note, does my schedule really get better if it gets changed like I'm supporting? I just looked at it and it seems like both are pretty even, but I'm honestly not sure.

Posted - 11/23/2017 11:07:39 PM Post a reply to Dicey situation
Dicey situation
I respect the current proposal (6 at large playoff teams, same schedule, no divisions) for being simple and a good faith attempt at keeping things balanced. However, it also changes the criteria for how playoff teams are determined mid season. That shouldn't be taken lightly.

Regardless of how we feel about divisions, they were created by the commish, and scheduling rules were determined based on those divisions. Playoff criteria was then determined based on these divisions and 2 at large bids. Along with everything else in the rules, I think we need to try following that as much as possible.

Since some teams have played a non division team twice already, there's no solution that can satisfy all requirements. Something has to bend.

Changing schedules for the last 2 weeks is disruptive, but it doesn't change how the criteria for how playoff teams are determined. The latest proposal does change it. So while I understand the schedule change seems more disruptive, some of us believe changing criteria is actually the more disruptive of the two.

In any case, I'll respect whatever decision is made or voted on. There is no obvious 'right' solution to this, which is part of the reason why it's so difficult.

Question on the trade deadline
Hey Commish. for trade deadlines, you said/proposed no trades after week 13. Then you mentioned a 'final' deadline.

Do you mean that after week 13, teams that are playoff eligible can still trade w/ other eligible teams? (and non-eligible w/ other non-eligible) Just wanted to make sure I understood correctly.

Let's Remember: Deshaun Watson 2017
Posted - 11/3/2017 12:11:39 AM Post a reply to Let's Remember: Deshaun Watson 2017
Let's Remember: Deshaun Watson 2017
In light of today's injury news, the Ludicrous Speed organization would like to express it's sincere gratitude and appreciation to a phenomenal fantasy player. While we cannot hope to replace a QB that will match his scoring output, we are confident his legacy will serve as a fine example of inspiration for the team moving forward.

Deshaun Watson's Fantasy Career Summary

Oct 10th: Watson is signed off waivers by LS, and is immediately named starter for Week 5 over a struggling Matt Ryan. A team spokesman is noncommittal about Watson's status as the permanent starter, as it's believed Ryan is just in a temporary slump.

Rumors at the time suggest LS was actually trying to land Jared Goff the week before, but didn't offer him enough $$$ before he signed with Missile Commanders. This resulted in LS pursuing Watson as a sort of Plan B.

Week 5: Watson puts up 45 pts in his debut, making LS's contest w/Snakebit closer than expected, but not enough to pull off the upset. Rumors abound that LS was so shocked at Watson's numbers that they thought it was a scoring error. The team owner doesn't say so publicly, but decides Watson will keep starting until he puts up a dud. (which is inevitable for a rookie QB)

Week 6: Watson faces future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers in his 2nd start, and puts up a very respectable 27. In a cruel twist of injury fate, Lombardi Leapers famed QB goes down early with a broken collarbone, thereby resulting in 0 pts, and arguably costing them the game.

While trying not to be happy with a division rival's injury, sources close to Ludicrious Speed reveal the team was suddenly very optimistic about the recent turn of events within the division, not knowing that weeks from now, Karma was going to come back and screw them over too.

Week 7: With Watson on bye week, Ryan gets the start and gets 18 in a losing effort to the Endzone Dwellers. While not a bad performance, LS is now convinced Watson is the clear choice moving forward, and officially names him starter.

Instead of keeping Ryan as a backup, LS drops the former draft pick/starter to waivers. The stunning move shows the team's confidence in Watson for the rest of season--despite being just a rookie. There's no way they will regret that in the very near future.

Week 8: Now seen as a franchise QB (at least for 2017) within the organization, expectations are very high for Watson. So what does he do? He throws 3 INT, and still puts up 40 pts. 4 TDs?? LOL.

After week 8's performance, Deshaun ranks #1 overall in total pts scored in the entire league. LS seriously considers starting a new religion/cult based on Watson's accomplishments and assumed future success/impact. Despite this, the team owner has a brief idea of floating him on the trading block for another good QB and maybe an upgrade at WR or TE, but this idea never got out of the "hmmm. interesting idea" phase. Sigh.

Nov 2nd: Watson tears ACL, and is ruled out for the year.
LS officials reportedly checked 4 different sources to make sure this was accurate. Then they got very, extremely drunk, and wrote out the post you're currently reading.

But before that, they called Matt Ryan to check up on "how he was doing" and if he might be kinda sorta interested in coming back to start for the ole team. Ryan informed them he was starting for the Chais organization, and that Ludicrious Speed could go **** themselves. As a result of this conversation, LS signed Super Bowl winning QB Eli Manning instead.

TL;DR, Deshaun Watson fantasy impact will be missed. And all kidding aside, so will his actual football impact. I wish him well on his recovery.

Trade deadline should probably be about the time some teams are mathematically eliminated from playoff contention. When that would be is anyone's guess, but was thinking maybe sometime around week 12 or 13?

If you do a FA deadline, I second the idea of having it just before playoffs start.

2018 Draft Order
Posted - 11/2/2017 10:09:11 PM Post a reply to Draft Order
Draft Order
I like the March Madness idea. If it's decided draft order won't be based on season performance, the NCAA tourney is probably the next best way to do it.

I also prefer whomever wins gets the option of picking their draft order, and then the next picks which number they want to pick, etc.

Another idea. If we do decide season performance decides draft order, how about a consolation playoff for teams that won't make the playoffs? Then whomever wins gets the 1st pick (in draft order). This gives teams missing the playoffs something to play for while the 'real' playoffs are going on.
