I find it objectionable that there are now only two or three DF's that are worth anything, while the rest have been nerfed in irrelevance. To have football's most vital aspect reduced to less value than kickers is a shame. Justify it all ya want, but having DF be less important than some dancing fairies with foreign names is about as un-American as anything I can imagine. |

jeez, it's been 1 week for god's sake. i'm sorry your defense sucks, but take a breath.
i just went through the box scores from week 1 quickly and looked for defenses that had held opponents to under 2 TDs. here are their ragnarok points from sacks, turnovers and pts against:
Indy: 9 Cleveland: 7 Buffalo: 16! San Fran: 15 Denver: 12 Seattle: 9 Atlanta: 5 Giants: 14 Tampa: 14
maybe there were more points scored from blocks or TDs. i didn't even look for that yet. that's 8 teams (out of a group of nine) that scored more than many kickers, tight ends, wide receivers and running backs that played this week (maybe even most), before TDs and blocks are accounted for. if they have less value than kickers, we're giving too many points to kickers!
keep in mind too, that except for Tampa, people waited a long time to take defenses. as a general rule, shouldn't your top picks be scoring more than your later round picks most of the time?
Kent's point about dancing fairies just points to our obsession with giving too many points to the lesser players on our roster, another problem that is being worked out with the new scoring system. now your whole team has to play well, not just some punk kicker. or some punk defense.
ps. defense wins NFL championships. I win Ragnarok championships. |

8 defenses scored 7 or more points, and that's NOT counting all the pts yet

I think that sums it up nicely. And to actually say that DF's are fantasy football's "most vital aspect", frankly, is quite the reach and is just plain false.
Gee, now we actually have to rely on QB's, RB's, WR's, TE's, and drafting to put a good team on the field. Oh, the horror, the horror! |
