Draft house update. Things are looking very good.
I got another message form the owner yesterday.

    Stuart,

We just have a few beds to setup, but we'll have that done this week. We'll be ready for your check in on Sep 10. We even installed a satellite signal extender for Verizon network. We have gone from next to no service to a solid 3 to 4 bars. We can now use our cell phones at the lake. That is a big deal for us lake country folk!

    -Pete

So it looks like everything will be taken care of by the time we arrive.

I also got the welcome letter and the FAQ sheet for the house. I put them up on Dropbox. The house address is 142 Aimee Ct, Bracey, VA 23919.

    Welcome Letter
    Frequently Asked Questions

One thing I noticed that I didn't know before is that they don't have trash/recycling removal there. We are responsible for making sure that the trash cans and recycling bins are empty when we leave. The welcome letter gives direction to a couple of dumpsters we can bring everything to.

Plus everyone needs to remember to bring bath towels, bed sheets and/or a sleeping bag since none of that will be provided.

This is what I have as the dates that everyone will be there.

Me - Thursday to Sunday (3 nights)
Kent - Thursday to Monday (4 nights)
Zach - Friday to Monday (3 nights)
Billy - Friday to Monday (3 nights)
Dat - Friday to Sunday (2 nights)
Jeremy - Thursday to Sunday (3 nights)
Scott - Friday to Sunday (2 nights)
Keith - Thursday to Monday (4 nights)
Sean - Thursday to Sunday (3 nights)
Joe - Friday to Monday (3 nights)

If this is correct, that's a combined 30 nights between everyone. The rental cost is $1405. Divide that by 30 and it comes to $46.84 per night per person.

    Just to clarify
Not a math person. Does to $100 we gave you early in the year fix in to that $46.84 per night? So I would owe one more night (give or take a few bucks), or was that money I sent you a deposit payment? I don't remember from last year and want to make sure I come fair and square.

I'll bring food, but haven't figured out what yet.

    Clarification
Money that was sent to me is put towards your total amount. So if you're staying 3 nights and already paid $100, you now only owe $40.52.

i'm also bringing a whole duck that i personally slaughtered. i'm wondering if that would be amazeballs if it was smoked?

    * fresh organic jalepenos from the garden
    * pint of duck fat
    * 1 lb woodlot and milk raised country bacon

ok. how many pounds is the duck? Think we will be having at least 8 for early supper (only 5 staying over) Will the duck feed 8? If so, i will pivot and think of some sides. saw good recipe of red wine vin, honey and soy sauce marinade fo the Duck. Fuck it. small butt, duck, corn brad, sirracha slaw, stewed peas. What do ya think?

    i like big butts
i think the duck is around 4 pounds and that includes the leftover bones... its size probably makes the duck more of a side or appetizer?

    Food from the Chef.
Since my lame ass Mexidog idea got totally trounced last year I intend to step up my game. I plan on making a green bean casserole (so we get at least a few veggies) and some form of my new signature dish- gumbo. And cheap beer. And cheap liquor.

    I'll bring the toilet paper
I can cover paper products - TP, paper towels, trash bags... It looks like we need to provide bath soap, so I'll get that also.

There is both a gas grill and a charcoal grill. Propane should be provided, but we need to supply any charcoal.

Ragnarok ain't gay, no matter what the inside joke is that you have going on with the misses. also, i think croquet isn't making the trip regardless simply because my sets are a frankenstein monster and in horrible shape (i'm saving them to do a restoration), plus the new venue's lot seems kind of anti-croquet.

    draft schedule
i think we're aiming to start it around 8:30 or 9pm on friday, and then do a later start on saturday - 4pm or 5pm (all times eastern). the minnesota boyz need some time to go to a remoter location on saturday.

the later start on saturday may make golfing easier. i saw in the FAQ that there is a 9 hold course about five miles from the house. Tanglewood Golf

    Hocus pocus
Sat. Start time can be later IMO. That course by the house is crap and I am not playing it. The course we are playing is 30 min away. start round 6 would give those boys and the golfers planty of time. I have a Verizon phone and that gives me accese to all NFL games. I will bring a cast dongle with me so we can watch whatever game we want

    No, Ragnarok is not gay.
I've never said it was. What IS gay is 10-12 guys holed up together in a fabulous lake house for 5 days. This is a standard trope for gay pornos. Trust me on that one. So strap on yer Maxi-pad and deal with it.

no thanks. this isn't a dumb fraternity. this is an elite fantasy football league.

in 2036 when we are bragging to people about how we have a fantasy football league that is 40 years running, it'll sound fucking retarded to say "oh yeah, and we do a Gay A Thon every year". i'm not doing it. i have more respect for the league than that.

    Another thing
We should be aware of the fact that we will be taking care of our own recycling. My suggestion is to not bring bottled water but to bring a couple of those 5 gal counter dispensers. Also, can beer is better than bottle beer
Plenty of options for good can beerbout there snobs.

    Yes and yes.
Bring a water bottle. Less dishes too. I'm with the Skulls. Just because your favorite scenario for the cinema is a lake house, doesn't pigeon hole us by any standard. Guys can and do get together (without women). Doesn't make them or the event gay. There are many issues you can debate and argue. This can't be one, because as far as I know, there's only one gay guy at the lake house. Not a gay-a-thon.
