Rules Proposal 26.7: Franchise Declaration After the Deadline
I think Stu brought up this idea, but it is now officially proposed that we have a path of appeals for changing our Franchise Declaration to accommodate very unusual events that take place after the Week 2 preseason games. While risks in this window are fairly low, they do exist and we need to keep this in mind because our primary Mission Statement is for all of us to field the most competitive teams evar.

The path for appeals needs to have a high threshold, however. This should be a rare event. And it needs to have a high bar for the appeal to be granted, such as 8 out of the 11 other owners. This should never be a mechanism that owners would flippantly use.

We also need to establish a deadline for such an appeal process, because we also need to allow for everyone to have enough time to plan for the live draft. Another cornerstone of Ragnarok is that we want everyone to have ample time and opportunity to come into the draft room being the most prepared as possible.

This process is more for handling cases like Jonathan Taylor's than it is for Travis Kelce's practice injury 3 days before the opening Week 1 game. I could be mistaken, but I think the Kelce situation might fall under the Jamaal Lewis Rule (not sure on the official injury requirements for the application of that rule).

For the situation at hand, this applies to the Bruins and Jonathan Taylor. There is a reasonable chance that Taylor may not play the entire season, and that is something that no one wishes upon the Bruins. I don't fault the Bruins for keeping Taylor, but I also want to see a competitive Bruins team. I'm for the court of appeals that has a very high bar for the appeal to win, but it's really up to everyone if we do this.

    Jim Irsay is a DICK
For what it's worth, I truly believed, and with the speculation from multiple websites, that JT would get paid OR be traded before that Tuesday deadline. It was a gamble, but for an owner to want top $$ and 1st rd. picks for JT, but not willing to pay JT TOP $$ - at this point I don't think JT's gonna play for that dick at all costs, and dickhead won't trade him. Dumb. So he is likely to Le'veon Bell it. I never thought the Colts would torpedo their top 5 RB. Did you? What a Dick, even if he did save some whale.

I know I have had well documented difficult misfortunes following each other in rapid succession for me recently (here and in real life) - some of which I haven't shared yet. I don't want pity, but starting the draft down a full FP who may not play at all isn't how we want to journey. But I would stick with JT if majority ruled. I think most of y'all said you didn't care, but I think the Commish is looking for a formal voice on the site. I did dclare another player from my roster last year, and he isn't in the same tier, but it's a stronger start than most likely starting with just Pickens.

I have strategized for both FP's. But it would be helpful to know which road I'm going down to start. It goes to all high hell after a few rounds anyway, so Let's Rock!! Hoping for a negative test in the morning, cause I feel good!

    This situation is different
Than an injury pre season. A very high bar indeed is needed, and I would say 9 of 11 must vote in favor. I vote for the bruins to be able change franchise players*. Zach is a good guy and a straight shooter.

    In approval
In approval for the rule for sure. Definitely needs to be a high bar though. Last thing we want is it being taken advantage of.

Also in approval of Zach being able to change his player. JT is getting a raw deal from the Colts, and I can't understand why. If I were him, I'd have a 4 month long flu. In turn, that essentially means Zach doesn't get a franchise player if this plays out as most of us foresee happening. So in this specific instance I'm in favor of him changing his franchise player.

    Yes and yes
Yes to the rule and yes to letting Zach switch his franchise player.

    I vote yes as well.
Zach should absolutely be able to change his franchise player.
