| It is proposed that we add Punters to Ragnarok and expand the rosters by two (2) slots. Scoring would be simple: 10 points for any punt over 80 yards and 20 points for a 90 yard punt. |

I like adding punters, but not the scoring system

I'd rather try a system where good punters provide a small point total each week, somewhere between kickers and coaches. Adding a big bonus for record-breaking kicks is fun, but it seems less fun if it's the only way to score and it wins a week by itself.
So how about 1 point for a 50 yarder, 2 points for a 65+ yarder, 5 points for a 75+ yarder, something like that? Is it possible to get points for kicks downed inside the 5? Can KeithBot 3000 do that? |

| I’m a for eliminating kickers all together. Teams will just drop 1 or both punters and add more running backs and wideouts. Free agency pool is already thin enough, no reason to artificially thin it more. |

OK, maybe that's an overreaction on my part. And I definitely get the case for eliminating kickers in fantasy football. But I've always believed there was a ton of merit in trying to include all facets of the NFL game into the Ragnarok game. If a good punter matters in the NFL, why shouldn't it matter to us? I gotta believe a punter is worth something like 1-3% to a team's fortunes. Maybe that's all our punters should be worth. But I really love the punter idea the more I think about it. (Especially at lower point totals.) Very Ragnarok of us to zig while others zag (fuck off, PPR!)
Saying that, maybe one way to curb some of the free agency dilution would be to keep roster sizes the way they are and add a 1 punter requirement? That would add 12 players back into the FA pool at least. |

People don't drop their coach for a position player

Having 1 punter is an interesting idea. I've been keeping my eye on coaches for many years now. Across all the leagues on this sit that uses a coach i don't know if I've ever seen a team drop their coach for an extra position player for more than a week. I know I did it once and it just didn't "feel right."
Punters would be like anti-coaches. You'd want the ones from bad teams. Cameron Johnston (the Texans punter) would have scored at least 1 point every week under Jeremy's proposed system last season. |

| I don't know what my opinion counts for as the newb amongst vets, but I like the idea of the tiered scoring for it. It adds a very strange and interesting wrinkle to the game that no one else is doing. I think the tiered scoring is a cool idea too since it will add more value to teams that suck since they will most likely be punting from their own territory more often. |

I wouldn't miss kickers, but I get it. I don't think 10 - 20 points for a good punt is a valid system. Jerm's makes it a little more appealing. Don't think we need two slots for punters. But generally don't like it.

| What about adding the punting tier that was proposed to the defensive stats? Like make it so if the punter booms an 80 yard punt the defense would get a couple points for it. It would even out a lot of the mid tier defenses too for scoring purposes. |
