Playoffs will start in Week 15
|

Don't forget! Free Agency will be closing after this upcoming Sunday. Aurora does not have Free Agency during the playoffs, as we have very large rosters and want to reward teams that have the depth and planning to make it through the playoffs gauntlet.
For Week 14, Aurora will be doing a Royal Rumble and all teams will essentially play each other. The top six scoring teams will get 1 Victory Point. |

Covid: Last Man standing Playoffs

The Playoffs of Attrition continues. I'm covided with Ekeler out and who knows about Kelce. Of course, Show Me is missing Dalvin Cook and got stuck starting covided Valdes-Scantling. He's got three IRs on his bench (UGH).
The team to beat (IMHO) , Dream Catchers are stuck without a kicker. ( though the website currently gives Butker 6 points. I guess a Harrison Butker in an alternative universe never got covid and the Chiefs game was scheduled on Saturday in the same alternative universe. ) The D Catchers are all set if either Mike Vrabel or Nick Sirianni catch covid though.
Pink Bunny down his best receiver, Chris Goodwin. (though that happened the old fashioned way, an injury)

The Covid has been lurking around all season but when 10% of all NFL players get on the list within a week, it really undermines all of our collective efforts for being competitive.
Not only are individual players unexpectedly lost each day of the week, but entire NFL teams are decimated. Why do you think Joe Burrows went off this week? It may have something to do with the entire Ravens defense being out with Covid. We spend the offseason and the summer planning our teams and matchups, and then it all goes to poop. In one league I lost my three best WR's to Covid in the same week, leaving me only 2 WR's and an incomplete roster and I barely lost in the semi-finals. It kind of sucks. Concerns for this type of scenario is why I took off the 2020 season last year.
It seemed that we were going to get lucky in 2021, but as soon as we had the playoffs bracket set and the rosters locked down it all went to heck.
Unfortunately, there isn't a perfect solution. The roster lockdown is a deliberate design so that the best team is recognized for stacking their roster and running the gauntlet. The last thing we want is for a team to pick up a league winning free agent in Week 16 and have that determine the league champion - such a scenario undermines the entire season. However, we also don't want situations where many teams lose so many of their starters to Covid and they can't field a competitive team. I think we'll need to revisit some of these rules for 2022 so that we can find that balance. |
