It's that time of the year again, boys. Time to discuss 2 QB's.

I was thinking about the goal of making QB a more relevant position, and while a 2 QB or Superflex approach are ways to accomplish it there may be another way to reach the same result: Penalize mediocre and shitty QB's. Examples could include negative points for poor completion percentage or low yardage. We already do -2 for interceptions but -3 might be worth looking into (though it does seem a bit harsh).

Well, if it's time to ask about this again...
Then it's time to give this reply again.

Is our QB system broken? In what ways will the changes being suggested fix/improve our system?

We already have a system where the few elite QBs have a good separation from the rest. Will any changes make this separation even wider? If so, I don't think that would be good for the league.

As for 2 QBs/superflex, I think that system makes QB injuries much worse for teams - especially in a league with a 10 man bench where QB hoarding is a real possibility.

Thought this is Koo’s dead horse, not yours Commish..
Everything matures…simply from the passage of time as we understand it. What has given Tenure to this “2 QB” discussion that we have been having for 8-10(?) years is not the validity of the change.. not wether it will make our league (that each and everyone of us loves) better.. but really, what kind of league do we have? Over the years, our scoring system has changed, we have altered rules to increase competitiveness, we sculpt the draft to be the most extraordinary, coolest weekend that exists. But we have never fundamentally altered how we would “play” the game. Adopting a change to our roster and scoring system as dramatic as adding a second QB would change how to prepare for the draft, draft strategy, roster/FA decisions not to mention more randomness in scoring results ( if the premise of QB’s are undervalued is in fact true.) It would change how we play our league and how it functions. So the real question is, what king of league do we want? One that is stable, steeped in tradition, or one that changes it it plays from year to year? I will have a proposal at draft weekend that can possibly satisfy both. Can’t Fucking Wait!!

    Once again
I really the wish the trend in this League would someday veer away from the impulse to take everything that is simple and understandable and that works and make it far more difficult than it needs to be. The old rookie rule was beautiful in it's simplicity. Want to keep a rookie? Give up your second round pick. Keep him for another year? There goes your first round pick. That system worked perfectly fine, until inevitably the math nerds decided to "improve" it by creating some nebulous method that allows rookies to be sniped by other owners. I fail to see how this has made it better.

Now we have yet another convoluted system for what place you are in the Draft. I fully support the inverting of the Draft positions. That has had an immediate and demonstratable effect on the League. The weird choosing of Draft positions has not. It just adds another unneeded layer of complexity.

And once again, the ridiculous 2QB/Flex bugaboo rears it's grognardian head. What will follow is much earnest hand wringing and stat flinging. Hopefully, in the end we will avoid adding yet another convoluted solution to a problem that doesn't exist.

All of this exists in a League that still refuses to address the issue of DF irrelevancy that has been present since the inception of the League. The absolute refusal to even consider PPR means that dozens of pass-catching RBs remain useless in our League.

I don't understand why we bother debating the QB2 issue when we continue to ignore things that truly are problematic. Perhaps if I could devise a DF scoring system that incorporated nuclear physics, astrology and advanced trigonometry it would gain some traction.

    The real question is ...
Why is Keith antagonizing the Koo?

2 QB’s in the Sleeper League,
was enough for me. It’s a strong word, but I hated it. Even as only a SUPERFLEX position, it didn’t feel balanced and essentially was a 2 QB lineup. In fact, there seemed to be only a very small elite group of players (not QBs) that could consistently match the points of what an additional tier 1-3 QB could. And if teams had two blue chip QBs, they played them every week. And then, you’re simply hoping for luck or an unfortunate event to your opponent’s team. Which feels different (less fun?) than when both teams have our standard lineup. But I didn’t miss Kickers. If we did ANYTHING to our lineup, I would consider retiring kickers (keeping all records in the Hall) and making that a regular FLEX (RB/WR/TE). But I also understand that kickers are part of the game. AND there is a purity that we have held high for decades by not having a FLEX slot. I love that about Ragnarok.

At any rate, it did change the dynamic of the draft last year. Additionally, I’m not sure why we need to penalize shitty QBs. What’s up with that? The simple fact that they’re shitty is penalty enough for an owner. And all voiced opinions prior to mine on this thread are seconded by me. We NEED a decent pool of QBs (even shitty ones) available in FA throughout the season to plug in as injuries or byes may occur. Otherwise, games are noncompetitive.

That’s my .02 and will always vote no 2 QBs - or even penalizing shitty QBs.

    Keith's true modivation ...
Is his desire to achieve greatness! Yes, he is good commish and all of us at some point have told him as much. Like anyone good at their profession, who wants to be better. Choose a mentor and emulate them. Keith seeing greatness has chosen to emulate a truly great commissioner, Joe! So when we see Ketth trying to alter this leage to be more like SFGFYS it is only because he wants to be more like Joe.

    So much vitriol...
...toward 2 QBs/Superflex. Next time just yell "Get off my lawn!" and it'll save you some keystrokes.
