The Big One: Covid on Rosters
Ok boys, everything else has been a warm up for the biggest discussion and decision: How to construct a rostering system which will allow teams to competetively respond to Covid absences without depleting the free agency pool to the point where it's worthless.

One thing that I think we should not do is to simply expand the roster size. That approach assumes that all teams will be equally affected but the reality is that Covid will have different impacts across all of teams in Ragnarok. Some teams won't be affected at all, while others will have to navigate losing players to Covid.

Eric had a clever idea where if a team has a Covid player that is out for that week, then that team could specify any player in the free agency pool to start for them that week. And that multiple teams could specify this same player to start for them in that same week. If someone comes in and actually wins that same player in free agency, then that player is off limits going forward but any teams that declared this Covid ghost player would still be able to use them.

There are many strategies that other leagues have used in the 2020 season, so we could look around to see if anyone came up with something creative last season.

Please chime in with any thoughts or ideas on how we want to handle Covid and roster management.

Re: The Big One: Covid on Rosters
Interesting thoughts, and I agree on avoiding uniform roster expansion. I'll admit, though, I don't love the option in the Eric method of picking anyone in the FA pool. Two reasons: 1) I can imagine a competitive advantage gained by having a Covid absence at a time when a high-quality FA emerges. 2) I don't like the idea of one team getting to play a guy "for free" when another team paid MBs to roster that player.

    Some other thoughts:

    - The Eric method, but only after Wednesday's FA or even Sunday's FA?

    - Covid IR spots that confer MBs, so you don't lose a roster spot AND you get a little bump (say, 10 MBs) in FA bidding?

    - I'm also OK not bending over backwards for Covid this year. I'm glad we're being prepared, but I think I'd be fine with a "sucks to be you" response to Covid absences.

    i kinda agree with Jeremy
Erics idea only after Sunday FA but also, maybe tough luck? pre covid, players missed games because "illness" all the time. I would not be shocked if players do miss games this year because of covid, the NFL will call it "illness". If that happens, do we all get to replace a player because of "illness" even if its not covid?
