    Ragnarok is back!
After an entire year off where nobody won a Ragnarok Championship, fantasy football is back!

It's clear that the NFL has no more fucks to give in regards to anything Covid related, so it looks like we'll be having regular football even if the streets are overrun with zombies.

An in-person draft for 2021 now seems like a real possibility. Billy has been researching venues and hopefully we can get a thread going here which will have all of the links and discussions, etc.

Speaking of discussions, there will also be many upcoming rules discussions. We'll need to formalize any Covid rules and also figure out what we're going to do with the new 17 week NFL regular season schedule.

    Woo Hoo!
Will we revert to the divisions we were in when we left? Is that just the old standings?

    Glad to be back!

    That’s great Kent!
I am glad you like that particular house, but if you would please (And EVERYONE else who has not responded to my original email) rank your top 3 choices so that the incredibly complicated scientific process can commence. Thanks!!!

    My input
I say this every year - there are two main things I look for in a draft house.

    1) Number of beds
    2) A space for having the draft

All of the places look great, however from what I see a few might have some issues.

Chapel Hill only has 4 beds.
Charlotte an Beech Mountain each only have 7 beds.

Kerr Lake doesn't look like it has a good space for drafting.
Lake Tillery #2 looks amazing, but it also seems to be lacking a good space for the draft.

My ranking of the rest would be

    Blowing Rock
    Lake Gaston
    Lake Tillery #1
    Roaring Gap

    draft house thoughts
Ahhh, football is back. I feel like I went through a time warp and we're now only five months away from Draft Weekend. Jeepers!

Regarding the idea of a draft in Minnesota, while I absolutely love northern MN and think it would be an adventure for everyone to congregate there, I don't think that I am yet comfortable with the idea of flying in a small tube with 200+ other people. And I don't think I could pull off a drive (it's about 30 hours each way).

I'm going to take a back seat approach to the discussion about the draft house venue and let everyone else decide what they want to do. Speaking for myself, I have doubts about the efficacy and duration of the new vaccines. I hope it's as great as everyone thinks and that we will indeed have a return to near normalcy in the future. That being said, I haven't seen the evidence for this as of yet - and neither has anyone else. We're still too early in this journey to know about safety, true efficacy over time, and also how these vaccines work against mutations. I'm trying to NOT be an arrogant mother fucker.

While these are my thoughts, I'm not judging anyone else's opinions and conclusions and resulting decisions.

What I envision for myself is that I'll attend the draft weekend but will bring my tent and camping gear in order to sleep outside. I'll come inside to go #2 and do the draft and maybe play a game, etc., but the bulk of my time will be spent outside.

And so my only request would be that we have some nice outside options in case of rainy weather. A covered deck or porch area would be ideal, where we can hang outside and drink beers and smoke cigs and whatnot.

I won't need to be factored into bed and room calculations, but I will still pay my full share towards the cost of having the venue.

In response to Raiden's post on the what is and what shall be done, I figured I'd just put this out there, now. I would come on the same day as being around teens that may or amy not have the shot. There isn't a scenario where I could quarrantine 10-14 days before arrival. I totally understand and respect anyone that wouldn't feel comfortable, and could sleep in a tent as well. But we'd all be in a shared bubble if we are in room. If there are stronger concerns, we can revisit as needed.

We have time to see how things play out, but I thought you should all be reminded that I'll be in the petri dish that week. If there is no school, things have gone the wrong way, and this may be the least of our worries.

    Football!

    another rental option
I remembered this one from a couple of years ago. Check it out!

    Taylorsville #1

It's located on 50 acres, has a huge main house and 6 cabins, plus lots of outside options for rainy days. When we all looked at it before, the only (imho small) concern was a lack of a large tv where we would do the draft. For some reason, on my computer I can't view the 36 photos they have but it's possible the tv got upgraded. Even if the tv is the same, I think we can either work with it or even bring another tv to set up in the huge covered outside area.

    And it's under $200/night.

I was really hoping to do a lake house this year as I love to jump in and get refreshed after several grueling rounds of stealing the Draft from you fuckers, but if that's not an option, this looks like a very good option. The privacy is definitely a plus, and the cabins are a good sleeping arrangement. That way Keith could have his own and not need to sleep in a tent which seems kinda shitty.

To follow up on Zach's post, I am in grocery as is Scott. Billy also is back to working with the general public. Even if vaccinated, we are still higher risk to be around. I don't see any way to avoid that. Most of you guys have kids and I would hate to put them at risk. This is something I have thought about a lot. I am hoping that by the time the Draft comes around, things will be better. It doesn't help that NC has done such a godawful job of handling things.

I respect whatever decisions we all agree upon. I dearly want to be with you folks, but not at the cost of anyone's health and well-being.

This place looks really good. My only question is privacy. It seems to be part of a community that is very close. Would that make certain activities too dangerous?

    Newland concerns
Looking through the pictures, I'm a wee bit concerned about the lack of dry outside space if it rains or if there is a rainstorm. The only covered area looks to be a flimsy canvas that isn't very large and is exposed on three sides.

Throughout the years we haven't had to deal with any meaningful storms or rain, but I think that's been sheer luck. And with a bigger emphasis on outside time (I won't even be having a room or a bed), I think such a feature is important. Sorry for raining on the parade!

    Newland house
The Newland house is in a good location, has great bed space, awesome draft room, plenty of kitchen space and the price is right. Keith, I think you will be the only person unvaccinated. You can just take the basement area as your space and then wear a mask in the house when we draft. No worries about covered outdoor space, all though that temp cover is plenty big and should work just fine. There is plenty of space around the house even though it is in a neighborhood. Check the pic and the map. I can float the down payment to this house. Let me know any dying concerns about this house by Monday 7 am. At 8 am I will book it.
