    2020 OFF questions
I think this would be a good place and time to start discussing the some of the problems that may arise this season and possible solutions to them. Even if you don't have a well thought out solution maybe someone else will, just bring them forward.

    fantasy 2020 season?
you're right Dave lots of confusion and too many questions to even think of if we decide on option to cancel our season what happens to rookie keepers would they hold over to next year ? I think all of us that enjoy fantasy football would like to have our season if possible so hopefully the nfl can get it figured out. I know lots of you guys are in a number of leagues so hopefully have input and ideas on best course for all. Maybe we need to think about a larger roster size just for this year or maybe a special reserve spot or spots? for covid positive players wow its a new world these days everybody stay safe and practice your skol chant just in case

    this pandemic sucks
Did y'all see the MLB's opening week? One week in and they already had to "postpone" two games. And that's pansy baseball with no tackling and lots of crotch scratching.

I know that this is a crazy reality these days and that everyone is trying to make the best evaulations for themselves and their families in terms of how to navigate the pandemic. Personally, my opinion is that the first wave hasn't even begun and we are going to be seeing massive disruptions in the NFL. There are simply too many players and support staff, coupled with the physical nature of the game and all of the traveling, to avoid the hyper contagious nature of this virus.

At the very least, we can all agree that on a weekly basis some/many NFL players will be out due to coronavirus; either they tested positive or they were exposed and have to quarantine. This number will probably increase over time. In no time flat, we may get to the point where the MLB got to, where a specific NFL game will be postponed or even cancelled at the last minute. What do we do when one or two games on a Sunday are nixed?

What do we do if the NFL cancels Week 3 and/or Week 4 outright (they structured the schedule to be able to do this if needed)? What do we do if the NFL cancels the season after 12 weeks? How about after 6 weeks? What do we do if after a few weeks the NFL suspends the season until spring 2021? What do we do if many of the league's top players are out for weeks at a time?

All of these questions, and a score more, would need to be hashed out in writing before the season begins.

It seems that it quickly gets murky and all of this undermines the very game of fantasy football. You can't rely on anything this season... best OL, individual players, the schedule, etc.... Who is going to plan for a campaign of 16 weeks? What's the new strategy, to try to be #1 after six weeks in order to be crowned a "champion?"

I agree with the goal of trying to get some normalcy and fun, but by the "end" of the season I don't think that we'll have either of those. I am of the opinion that it will be a chaotic season.

And I didn't even bring up that it's a money league.

None of this is easy, gents.

    Lets Gamble...
first off i hope everybody is staying healthy during this horrible pandemic...its also good to be back in the O.F.F league!!! One idea and i'm just getting the ball rolling could be set are rookie keepers and franchise players like normal and draft like nothing happened. If anything happens like the league shuts down, the money rolls into 2021 and we do the same thing in 2021 Double the Pot!!! everybody could have 2 franchise players and some people will have rookie keeper slots 1 from 2019 and one from 2020 to set...just the first idea...look forward to hearing others...thanks Brad;)

    Good Ideas keep them coming!
You have some pretty good ideas Brad. I do like your idea of redrafting every week to eliminating the whole covid factor. This would mean a bigger time commitment from the other owners but it may be the easiest way to avoid that issue all together. Along with a free agency on Sunday morning for emergencies. That would mean a whole new concept for the OFF. Franchise players and rookie keepers would be immune from the draft. and rosters would have to be expanded for their bye weeks. I'm not sure how this years rookies could be tied to any owners roster for next year but maybe you have an idea for that.

A fundamental change to the OFF
Redrafting each week is a smart way to try to resolve some of the major issues that we will be facing this year as owners. However it is such a huge step from the norm that this would require a majority of the teams to agree to such a radical shift. For those of you that have been in the Drafthouse league here on customizedfootball.com this is something that you have done before. For the rest of us this will take some time to adjust. I hope that some more of the owners chime in on this subject so we can gauge the interest of this avenue.

We are officially suspending the league until 2021! And have a low-budget fun league in 2020.
All rookies will retain their rookie status until 2021. All rookies that could be drafted this year and next year can be chosen as a keeper in 2022. Jeff will be running the fun league and I turn that over to him. This will give me a break for a year. Feel free to give me a call for questions, or just to say hi! Later and hope all are well, E.

personally, I'm glad to hear it
Fantasy football is a ton of fun, but that fun arises out of trying to gather information and formulate strategies that are superior to my league rivals. I don't feel that this will be the landscape for 2020, as we'll be dealing with signficant uncertainty with players availability. Or worse, it is a possibility that entire games may be postponed or canceled. That would be a total mess.

I think this is a good approach for 2020. We can all have fun and continue to socialize while not really worrying what happens. And the gravitas of the Osage Fantasy Football trophy is not tarnished by an asterisk-marked season. And we're not all putting in 75 bucks for what could be a potential disaster.

With that being said, the temporary league could be a completely different type of league than O.F.F. is. We probably don't want to make it just like the O.F.F. for a few reasons, including that this is a beer-and-pretzels league and also that we will probably be dealing with players frequently being out with Covid-19. We may want more IR slots, or just Covid-19 slots, etc. There may also be totally different rules or scoring that would be fun to play with. I'll be taking a fresh approach and will be making a completely new team name.

CustomizedFootball.com will be closed down for 2020. Where will the 2020 league be hosted?

And does anyone have any thoughts about 2020 rules and scoring?
