Rules Proposal 24.1: Smashmouth Submissions
"It is proposed that starting in 2020 each team must write at least one substantial article in the Ragnarok Smashmouth Gazette per season." |

Or what?

I'm all for 24.1. Get ready for a 7,500 word Ode To The Superflex. It'll be absolutely riveting. |

A great idea

I'm all for it. With 12 teams and a 13 week regular season, we could easily have everyone take a week. It shouldn't be difficult to have a schedule set up far enough in advance for people to have something ready for their assigned week. If someone does miss their week, they can make it up after everyone else has done theirs (or whenever possible). If someone doesn't post one at all, the punishment should take place during the following draft weekend rather than be something that affects the league or the standings. |

To template or not?

I like the proposal as well. Should each beat writer be required to lay down match ups with predictions or using the odds page along with the main story, as Scribbles does? Or could articles have a wider theme.
Asking for a reporter... |

definitely not about supplanting Scribbles Snavely
This is just for more general articles, insights, and commentaries. Matchup analysis is still open to anyone who is inspired, but the intention would be to have additional types of content in the league newspaper. |

My proposal
As the League Scribe, I get a great deal of satisfaction out of printing my Sunday Scribbles, and I would rather not feel like I am having to compete for that slot. How about introducing a special guest Saturday edition each week? More content is a good thing, but I don't want anyone to feel like I'm stepping on their toes or vice versa. |

Or it could be midweek

Articles don't have to be just on weekends. Also, we may need to define what a "substantial article" can contain in it. Personally, I think people should have the freedom to write about whatever topic they want, just try to tie it in some way to the league and/or football.

Another thought
It is common in the print media to have multiple bylines. Therefore I would encourage co-operation amongst reporters. I envision Eric and Dave posting a manifesto on how to survive -300 degree weather or perhaps Sean and Jeremy rhapsodizing on their everlasting love. |

Hunter S. Thompson inspired Smashmouth submissions are also welcome
No formality, just off the cuff inspirational writings at random weeks and days are encouraged. It's not a job, it's about the fucking ether and the bats and the toaster and the bathtub. |
