yup, this is the Jamal Lewis rule
he gets to pick a different player and then Vick gets put back into the pool and can be drafted or picked up via free agency by anyone.
i think the phone circuits got switched when i tried to call you yesterday at 260-3907, that's all.

yes byt he is only out until week 6...
not yhe whole season,like jamal lewis was.is that differrent?

I think Eric has two options here.
He can invoke the Jamal rule, but that would mean he foregoes any claim to Vick. Or he could keep Vick, and place him on IR and activate him later if I understand it correctly.

out for season shouldn't be the distinction
it seems to me that we would want the owner to simulate a repeat of the July 15 decision, but this time with the knowledge that a player is seriously injured. the bottom line is that we want to field as competitive a group of owners as we can.
as long as the player in question is officially Out for a portion of the season, and this is a development that happened after July 15, then i think he should just pick a different player.
as for the issue of whether or not Vick has the option of being put on IR, i don't think so as it would give that team two great players to have as options the following year (no one else has that).

thanks for the clairification.
i agree that we should all be able to field a competative team.it's just to bad that matt dosen't have this second chance to give him a little more help to do that.:)
