| unedr the new scoring 1 40 yard F.G. , or 1 90 yard receiving day is or 70 yds rushing is worth the same as a defense who gets 2 ints and 3 sacks. Do any of you really think that 1 40 yarder is the same as 2ints and 3 sacks in a game. lets remember we are scoring the efforts of 11 players collectively with defense and in reality its about 40% of a game(50% dedicated to offense and 10% to special teams) and so should go the scoring. |

i would prefer to avoid repeating the same facts over and over, as i think these have been laid out in detail earlier. when a team owner can only spend about 1% of preseason research efforts on K's and DF's, and 99% goes for QB, RB, WR, TE, the very fact that this ratio exists should be enough of a reason for people to stop and reflect (there is a reason why this is so), but again that's all been covered before.
i am totally convinced that these adjustments are one of the best things we've ever done for the league.
we have added and added to defenses over the years, and mathematical corrections had to take place. we need FANTASY football to be representative of coaching, not abstract mantras like "defenses win championships." these types of arguments do not address the game design issues laid out in the previous essays, and until those thesii are satisfactorily addressed, it seems to me that these "discussions" here just amount to whining. for the life of me, i cannot understand why people want 40% of a team's output to be based on kickers and defenses. that's not coaching, that's luck. |
