| Last year didn't the top two teams from each division go to the playoffs with first place in one division playing second in the other division and vice versa. Why the change? How are we going to schedule it? Also, if I draft a rookie and rookie rule that player and keep that player his whole second season can I rookie rule him for a second season? |

I'm not sure if last year it just happened to work out where the top 4 teams overall were 2 from each division. But the system is as described, where divisional winners get the top 2 seeds, and the remaining 2 wildcard teams are determined independent of their divisions. That's why a "round-robin" schedule is played out.
It's really pretty easy to set up. You just take the best of the divisional winners (based on overall record) and assign them #1 and #2 seedings, based on overall record and then total points as the tiebreaker. Take the next best 2 teams, regardless of division, and have the best one face off against the #2 seed, and the worst wildcard team plays the #1 seed.
As for the rookie rule, here's a summary:
* if you draft him and never remove him from your roster, you can give up a 2nd round pick in the following year's Draft (2003) in order to keep the rookie.
* if you never remove him from your roster during the second season, you can give up a 1st round pick in the following year's Draft (2004) in order to keep that player on your team. |
