The scoring breakdown says the Ravens held the Jags to 10 points. But the final score was 24-17. Does this make a difference in the score of the game?

    Points Held factors in responsibility
And so if the defense was off the field when a score happened (usually INT or fumble recoveries for a TD), that defense is NOT penalized when determining their "true" points held against the offense. The thinking behind this is that a defense shouldn't be accountable for something that takes place when the DF isn't even on the field.

    very Interesting
Halfway through my third year and the first time that this issue has come up??? Weird!! So if a team's only pts come from an INT or fumble recovery for a TD, then the Defense actually records a shutout? What if the opposing team scores on punt or kick returns?

This has been in effect since 1999, I think. And yup, it would count as a shutout if the only points scored by the opposing team was by the opposing DF (safeties, INT returns, F returns). As for scoring on a punt or kick return, since the DF/ST was on the field when it happened, those do count against the Points Held. Same goes for fake punts that result in TD's (ST is on the field).

And we consider this a 7-point deduction from Points Held (instead of 6 points), as 99% of all TD's have a successful PAT.
