    Ties...
This off season can we finally get rid of ties? It's stupid. It's limbo. It's a waste of a game. Designate a tie-breaker player score, bench points, SOMETHING! I know you folks with two ties are like "why bother?" and it's become no fluke. I've had a tie the last three seasons, and it has occured at least once every year (I've been in the league) by someone. It's NOT part of the game. It shouldn't be. We need W's and L's. ...and that's the rest of the story.

    Sounds good to me
Ties used to be a rarity, way back in the first few years, but for some reason they seem to be popping up way too often. We can think about a few different approaches to tie-breakers, including but not limited to bench points.

On another note, give me a call if you want to banter about a trade. I'm leaving town Friday afternoon, so it'd be best if you called me at work today (929-5785 x245) or at home tonight.

i'm not sure what the big deal is about ties
Then again, i don't think i've ever tied. But how are ties not part of the game? If you had the same number of points as the opponent, you didn't win and you didn't lose. Why find some artificial way of deciding who "won" that game? Choosing bench points as a tiebreaker would mean every team would basically be forced to have backups at every position, just in case a tie came. Did you know that 10 teams out of 12 have no backup at at least one position? A bench point tie-breaker hamstrings those teams in a way that seems unnecessary. My guess is that every other tie-breaker will have some similar consequence. We need to be aware of that consequence before we change the rule.

Ties must really suck, since C.TUFF is so mad about it. And he doesn't get mad often, so i trust this is a big issue. I'm not going to stand in the way of a change to the tie rule, but i don't think the current argument is strong enough to warrant the rule change. Maybe i just need to tie someone.

    Hello...
it is artificial! Even the NFL has come up with a way to eliminate them. Yes...it occurs, but how many times in the past fifteen years? One two games? Why not use your franchise player/a single player's points? Just a thought. That way no benches, back-ups. Just the points from your Franchise vs. their franchise. Not a perfect solution yet, but the way it is now it just leaves you in limbo. I was down almost thrity points on Monday and came back to tie???! Yeah it's not a loss... .5 win/.5 loss. Pfftt! I've brought it up every year and I guess most owners don't care. If majority likes the tie, fine. Fantasy Hockey has 'em, Fantasy Soccer has 'em. Let's put FOOTBALL with 'em.

On another note, I'll try to call you this evening Keith, but my competiton play is going on. Not so sure about shaking things up now but I'll think....

...or total yards form starters (QB, RB's, WR's)...

I don't think changing the tie situation is warranted.
Sure, I am not thrilled to have two of them this year, but it beats the hell out of losing to some arbitrary tie-breaker system. Maybe if we decide to add coaches, that might reduce the number of ties. My belief is that we are seeing more ties now because we have such good owners. In the past, there were way too many blow-outs due to crappy owners that started mailing it in half-way through the season. Personally, I'd rather deal with ties than with cheap wins.
