Ok, with the auction start looming ahead of us, it's definitely time to lock in any rules changes ASAP. Thanks to all who offered their input and wish lists this summer... And here we go:
OFFICIAL CHANGES:
* We'll be going to four divisions instead of three. This will allow for a perfectly symmetrical 13 week regular season schedule, where you play your division mates twice and everyone else once. Playoffs will still be Weeks 14-16, and the top two seeds will still get a bye in Week 14. Each division winner earns a playoff spot, and then there will be two wildcard playoff spots.
* There will be a penalty for not nominating a player during the auction's first 10 days. The exact sanction is to be determined and will be announced before the auction begins.
* TE added to Flex. Base starters are 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, and then you can Flex one RB/WR/TE.
CHANGES UP FOR A LEAGUE VOTE:
Go to the league homepage and vote on these. Voting ends on Tuesday.
* Negative DF scoring. If your DF really sucks and is giving up 40 points a game, get ready to receive a few negative fantasy points that week. The exact chart will be determined, and it will be a very conservative chart this first year (i.e. your DF has to be horrible to incur this negative scale), but please vote on the general concept.
* Roster size. Do you want 19 (as-is) or 18 (trim it) players on the roster? Keep in mind that we do play with Head Coaches and therefore you'll be using at least one slot for those.
REJECTED PROPOSALS:
* 6pt passing TD. Since we do not do PPR, we're keeping it at 4pts.
* Kicker boosts. Too much luck is involved with kickers. Plus, kickers suck.
* VP tinkering. Leaving it as is.
* No K, HC, or DF in first few days of auction. What happened to the "free market"? I believe in FREEDOM.
So step right up and vote on the two remaining proposed rules modifications!
Final results and details will be announced at end of day Tuesday.

a TD is worth 6 in the actual game, how can it only be worth 4 in fantasy? That's bullshit.
'Freedom' I think is just a bit of inside joke from a now expired league, not actual Freedom.

Sanction proposals?
|

|
| Does anyone have any ideas for what type of reasonable sanction could be imposed on a team which does not nominate a player during the first 10 days of the auction? We want to find something that has a mild sting but which does not seriously disrupt competitive balance. |

| As the resident newcomer would just like to request pass td stay at 4. Don't want the qb scoring more points then the rest of the team combined, it skews the scoring way too much. Much more balanced lineup at 4. |

| Maybe instead of sanctions, nominations is how you earn your post draft photons. 10 photons for the first 10 available players to nominate. So if you don't nom then you have 10 less photons for FA. |

| I like it and would even be down for a larger penalty of say 5 photons taken away from the 100 starting photons for each day of non nominations within the first 10 days of the draft. So you could potentially lose half your starting money if you don't nominate at all - at which point you shouldn't even be in the league. |

Final Rules Updates
|
|
|
|
The results are in:
* Reduce roster size to 18? DID NOT PASS.
* Negative DF/ST scoring? PASSED.
* Penalty for not nominating any day in first 10 days? PASSED. 5PH for each day w/o a nomination, taken out of the regular season bank account.
I'll post the DF scoring grid to the Scoring page tonight.

Hal9000 got the DF Points Held interfaces up and running, and you can view the chart via the Scoring link on the league's homepage.
Right now, it's a very conservative Points Held chart when it comes to the negative points. If the general consensus is that we should beef it up a little, we can do that. |

| Def pts look ok to me. Just an idea here about Kickers scoring. Make short range FGs 3 points but also make missed short FGs -2 and missed long FGs -1. |
