Hey Guys! I was just gonna call Keith, but then he'd be the messenger to my summer, so I'll fill you all in. You know we have new jobs! We start on Wednesday. School starts earlier here. SNOW! We have a great place that we're renting, and move was smooth. We have a small cottage if you want to come to Boone to ski, whatever. We'll put you on the calander. House in Hendo is under contract! On the market for a mere 9 days! Barring some wierd inspection thing, we sign off Sept 21st. Crazy. The development you don't know is that Kelly was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease at the end of July (right when we were ready to move). We are back in Asheville today for her second infusion of Remicade (2 hour drip), a strong medicine that supresses her immune system. Kinda like Chemo for angry guts. She'll be on this forever every couple of months. Without all ugly details, she was in the hospital for nine days, lost 30 pounds, and it was bad. She is slowly getting better and luckily she isn't a teacher so she should be able to transition into Watauga slowly.
Having said all that, she can't drive, and needs help with her meds, and right now, living. If(we'll have to wait and see)she is still too fragile, I can't justify leaving for the weekend when she is still sick. We live in the woods, no neighbors or friends yet either. I do have internet so I would be "live" but it's looking like my responsiblities to Kelly and Lucy trump vacation. I've never missed a draft yet, and I'm not completely ruling it out, but I wanted to give you all a heads up. And I will pay before the draft, but still swinging a mortgage and rent at same time, including all the expenses to move, plus new med bills. Not looking for sympathy, just the way it is right now.
We are stoked for new challenges, but this is the "new normal" and in a few months Kelly will get control of this and I'll be back next year, unless modern medicine allows Kelly to feels comfortable to be alone a few days, and she can drive in a few weeks.
New address: 417 Cobbs Creek Road Boone, NC 28607
Smartphones work everywhere up there, but no service at home. New landline: 828-386-1864
Now go eat a bag of dicks! |

Family first. Sorry that kelly is going through that. Hope you can make it because you will be missed, but speaking for myself I understand. Just remember you owe me that bourbon from the cuse - wvu bowl game! |

The very best wishes for you, Kelly, and Lucy. Though I barely know Kelly, I do know that anyone you married would have to be BURNSVILLE TOUGH, so I'm sure you'll all fight hard to get back to your normal, awesome, Ragnarok-filled lives very very soon.
And if there's any way we can be there to help, please reach out. At the very least, Karen is an internist, so probably knows a thing or two about Crohn's, and she has several friends in GI throughout the country who could be able to provide outside guidance, perspectives, etc, if that's something you'd like. So seriously, don't hesitate.
Looking forward to seeing you on draft day, in whatever form.

I'm not a praying man, but I am thinking of you and your family. I'm also not sure if miracles happen, but I do believe the things that modern medicine does everyday is miraculous. And, I know that you are strong enough to bring your family through this ordeal. My best to you. |
