USC assistant makes pitch for UM job
Orgeron says he's been contacted, hopes to land 'official' interview

OXFORD — Another bizarre day unfolded in the Ole Miss football coaching search Tuesday when the school was turned down by a coach who wasn't even offered the job while a leading contender said he's awaiting an interview.
Naval Academy coach Paul Johnson said he was so overwhelmed by "inaccurate Internet speculation and rumors" regarding his alleged interest in the Ole Miss job that he saw only one way to end it all.
Johnson issued a statement through the Annapolis, Md., school's sports information department, saying he was "not a candidate for the Ole Miss job, nor was" he interested.
"I was getting killed by everybody calling me," Johnson said when reached on his cell phone late Tuesday. "It was causing chaos. I don't know where any of it came from. I wasn't even contacted about the job."

| I can handle a little bit of shit talking. But don't think if you say God Bless the BCS two hours after my team learns they are not going to the OB, that I'm not going to say something back. The fact you were making fun of a pair of pants my wife had just given me as a birthday present was just kind of icing on the cake. I couldn't care less who OM gets as a coach. I happen to like Oxford. I was just talking shit. But come to think of it, I remember last year when I was just trying to talk a little shit and you went off the deep end. I didn't mean anything personally but you're being a huge hypocrite. If it makes you so mad when I talk shit back maybe you shouldn't talk shit with me. |
