A story posted late Wednesday evening by Tim Nelson of Minnesota Public Radio said that state officials appear to have finally agreed on a deal that would build a new Vikings stadium in downtown Minneapolis.
The officials met behind closed doors in the governor’s office. Minneapolis mayor R.T. Rybak confirmed that there is a 9 a.m. CT press conference scheduled to make an announcement regarding the proposed stadium.
The meeting included officials from the Vikings along with Rybak and other city officials plus state legislators, lobbyists and Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission Chairman Ted Mondale. The group reportedly discussed the framework of a deal between the Dayton administration, the Vikings and Minneapolis.
The most recent reports regarding the stadium deal indicate it will be a $970 million project. The Vikings previously have offered to fund as much as $425 million toward the cost. The state reportedly was contemplating a share of nearly $400 million.
Minneapolis has pledged about $150 million up front, plus operating revenues after the stadium is built.
The new stadium reportedly will be erected where the Metrodome stands. If true, that would mean that the Vikings would not be able to keep playing in the Metrodome for at least part of the construction period. |

i'm so sick of all of the freeloaders in this country. we're constantly giving money out to people who live with a perpetual sense of entitlement. goddamn to Hell all those bastards who got those $2,000 debit cards after Katrina! F U, you deadbeats!
P.S.: how's Red McCombs doing after receiving a $350M profit from selling the Vikings a few years back? i hope he's doing ok, because he's a job creator and we need him! |
