I don't care if there is a season or not. I am going to Keith's house that weekend and drinking and swimming and having fun and such. And drinking. that is MY weekend and the NFL is not going to take it away from me. |

Keith, I got an error when trying to update my Team Wisdom

Don't know what I did wrong. But I'd like to change my wisdom to the following: "I don't care if there is a season or not. I am going to Keith's house that weekend and drinking and swimming and having fun and such. And drinking. that is MY weekend and the NFL is not going to take it away from me." - Billy Buckley.
Billy, this sums it all up. You are the man. You are the fucking man. LONG LIVE RAGNAROK.

Keith and I were just talking about this the other day

I'm all for having our regular get-together and whether or not the NFL wants to be involved is up to them.
Also, I'll be down in the area this weekend. |

I am planning a draft weekend regardless of the NFL's opinion. Thankfully my wife does not pay enough attention to the NFL to know whether or not there is a season. We just had baby girl number 2, so I will begin making plans now. Hope all you guys are well.

Sorry. Too cliche.
I'm with Joe or he's with me. And we usually kick your ass, one way or the other. |

Draft Weekend 15.0
|
|
|
|
It's starting to look like the NFL labor dispute may come to a conclusion in the 11th hour, and from listening to NFL Radio it sounds like we may even have a settlement within the next week or so.
The big unknown is whether or not the season will start on time, but it is appearing like we will be on a regular NFL timetable. Even if the regular season start is delayed (which would surprise me), I think we'll be having football at some point. And so the preliminary discussion really comes down to two likely scenarios:
1) Settlement is reached in July and the season starts as normal. And so the draft would take place as normal.
2) Settlement drags on and we get a delayed season. I propose that we do a draft regardless, and do it at the normal time a week after Labor Day weekend. Even if we miss 4-6 weeks of football (which I doubt), we'll need to do a draft anyways and so why not just do it as normal? Sure, we'll have some weeks where our awesome rosters are just sitting there, but is that bad? The only thing we'll need to do is create a Supplemental Draft if there is a long delay before football starts, in order to handle injuries and other unforeseen events. We can do the Supplemental Draft online a few days before the first kickoff of the season.
If we all lived locally, then we could just make it up as we go. But since we have some owners that have to arrange work and travel plans (Joe and Zach) and others that are a great distance away (Eric, David, and Will) and it takes planning in order to execute such a trip, I think we should make a decision sometime soon. For example, Eric and David were planning on coming down to NC, but Eric would need to coordinate care for his dad well ahead of time.
We don't have to decide today, but instead we can just watch the negotiations and hope that all of this becomes moot in short order. If no settlement is reached by July 15, we may need to get specific about how we want to handle it.
