Last week for Free agency and trading....
    Hola everyone!

I think last year I asked this and here I am asking again....

Do we want to end Free Agency and Trading after this week? It is done that way in the other leagues and I was wondering if we wanted to do it here? If we did it, this Sunday will be the deadline for all trades and Free Agency. I will put a poll up and majority will rule.

    Please vote :)

    Free Agency exceptions...
    Hey Ladies,

While I understand the reasoning for ending the free agency, I think we should make an exception in injury circumstances. I just heard that Frank Gore broke his hip and Tracy has only injured back up Running Backs. I would suggest that she should be able to pick up a Running Back that was available last week.

    What do you guys think?

    I agree
I think it's ok to make a special exception for an injury. Would that be an administrative hassle for Keith and Jax?

    free agency funtime
A league ballot was put up and everyone had the chance to vote before it was pulled it down on Sunday (the deadline). I apologize for the short window and I should have put the poll up earlier so there was at least 2 weeks to ponder it instead of just a week. It is worth noting that the majority who did vote were decidedly in favor of a roster lockdown.

Even so, in light of the short timetable and the resulting confusion, this is probably something best tabled for the offseason. To avoid any controversy, we can just leave it as is for 2010 and have no roster lockdown.

As an aside, based on the comments in the forum here is some food for extracurricular thought: would we even be having this discussion if there was RB depth to back up Frank Gore? What if he was on another team which had RB's that could step in? Why have this proposed consideration for a special "exception" because one league team is impacted to X degree?

I also lost Adrian Peterson and it sucks, but I have guys on my bench for when my starters go down. Like any owner should, I had spent all season working free agency (and attempting trades) so that I can have the roster depth to weather injuries. I think that our discussion should involve the merits of a roster lockdown and the appropriate legislative methods to debate it, and not involve whether or not a team is seriously hampered because they don't have another player to step in. But this is just a tangent and no biggy.

All this being said, no sweat on this end. I say let's keep it simple and have no roster lockdown for this season, and then we can banter about it in the offseason.

    two cents
    Hey all,

Not that anyone is asking, but as I'm thinking about it, thought I would get a jump-start on the off-season banter on the free agency thingie:

    1. completely agree that it should be an off-season decision. I get your point Jax on setting up your roster to weather injuries, but since none (or most or some) of us went through the season thinking that way, we may not have strategized for it. (my sad team was a week to week free agent situation).

    2. limiting the time for free agency definitely would change strategy. Right now, if I get far enough into the season with a good kicker, and get past his bye week, I may dump my second kicker in order to gain another WR. My strategy might be different if I knew that at some point I couldn't pick up another kicker if mine got injured.

    3. lastly, I realize this is Fantasy Football and not real football, but I think I'm right in thinking that in real football, teams can pick up players whenever they need them (ahem, I'm looking at you Carolina and your stay-at-home-dad-QB), and so we should just think about why we want to limit it.

    4. also agree that we shouldn't make injury exceptions if we go, next season, with shutting down free agency at some point.

    Go Mutts!

I love the football passion ladies!!!!
I started this banter, so I better put my cents in as well...I should say first and foremost that I am sometimes someone who likes to break the rules. I didn't vote in time for the decision, so I totally get that I don't have a leg to stand on. I guess I just thought it would be a more fair fight to allow people to do free agency during regular season play, seeing we only have one game left. If it were the play-offs, totally different ballgame as they say!

I think it will be super fun to talk about this for next season and will go with the flow on this for right now.

Again, I just love love love the passion that the triple F ladies have for our team. We are so awesome!

    Free Agency
I forgot to post that I restarted Free Agency and now realizing that it is 7:57pm, there will be no time to make sure everyone has seen the post and/or gotten needed picks in.
    SOOOOOooooooooo.......
Free Agency will be tomorrow (Thursday) at NOON so there will be plenty of time to put in bids and set line ups after FA. After tomorrow, the FA will be the usual schedule (Tue-Sat at 8pm, Sun at 10am and no FA on Mon).

    Happy bidding!

    Sorry for the delay.

    Jax
