Week 4 stat correction?
I think your week 4 results against team Voltron may have been reversed after a stat correction? You can click here to view the game details and audit that game... I'm not sure what particular stat may have done the deed, but it was a squeaker and it is 173-172 as it stands now. The stats rule, so whatever those are will determine the ultimate score for that game. |

Just wanted to make sure- I dropped garçon because you had said I was out bid to wildcats, even though he's been on my bench. If this is not the case and I can use him, I will keep him and drop someone else. But I might need your help putting him back on. Just want to play by the rules. Thanks! |

Please check out the defense scores... We see a discrepancy for ours. Tampa bay got a fumble and sack recovery and the Bears got a interception for a touchdown and haven't seen the points. Thanks. |

Just a quick feedback item: Having to fix the scores every week is very frustrating. I think every week there are problems with the scoring and we have had to write to get it fixed. It really takes the fun out of the game and we never really know for sure if our points are correct until we add them up ourselves and then have them adjusted. I know by the end of the week it comes out right, but we love to have it live and correct. Not trying to be picky, but it's the whole point of the game. We are enjoying the league, but that really gets in the way. Thanks! |

I Remember…
… having to get up on Monday mornings every week of the football season and walk down to the local gas station in order to buy a copy of USA Today, and then actually use pen and paper to calculate each of my players' fantasy scores. And my opponent's players, as well!
That being said, I’m not excusing anything and I apologize for any frustration being felt by anyone. I’m just providing a window that can be used to view our modern experience of playing fantasy football. Yes, that was the 1990's, but that was not that long ago. I suppose that I'm a curmudgeon, because I remember what life was like not too long ago and just want the meddling kids to stay off of my lawn.
Anyways, with some people being new to Customized Football I thought it would be good to also provide some other overall information that may not be known about CF, and perhaps this will help alleviate a bit of the angst that some are feeling. We'll still dig into the stats issue, below, but first let me offer a little bit of context.
As everyone may have deduced by now, Customized Football is not like any other fantasy service out there. This is not Yahoo or CBS Sportsline or any other corporate monolith (thank gosh). Nope, this is your father's fantasy football service, ripped from an alternate reality where Main Street still exists.
That's why we have many fun elements that do not exist on any other fantasy website: post it notes, player nicknames, polls, robust team and league customization, and a ton of “easter eggs” that can be discovered and unlocked. We also do not get bombarded by advertising on every freakin' page, are unhindered in language (for the forums and newletters, anything goes), and have such total control that we can make anything happen (Freedom Dollars, anyone?). This unusual level of control is what lets us create a format such as the Double Time league where couples team up against other couples. Where else do you find such an ability? You don't, because every other fantasy football website out there is a big cookie cutter corporate entity.
So what is Customized Football? One person built the whole thing from scratch and the same person maintains the whole system. That may not be fully sinking in, so let me repeat it: only one person built, maintains, and runs the show.
There is no revenue, and the entire effort is for free and is a labor of love.
That being said, let me now address stats? Each week, there are 1,200 players that have stats being tracked (the system also handles IDP's). That is A LOT of overhead. Everything is now working properly except for the following known issues: 1) Team DF stats have wrong turnover and sack totals during the live games, but they do get corrected once the game is over. This is #1 on my dev list to fix. 2) In the past two weeks, a few Kickers have been getting bad PAT values. This is #2 on my list to fix. 3) Once in a blue moon, the scoring tabulating hangs during a live game and needs to be kickstarted. 4) Some cross-stats values for players that had similar or identical names. Most of these happened at the beginning of the season and have been corrected going forward.
I know that the DF stats issue may be the most frustrating, and believe me when I say that it is the top item on my list. I'm the one that is inconvenienced the most because I have to handle it manually. I'm very motivated to get this one ironed out and feel confident that it should be cleared up for the upcoming week. A ton of other stuff has been done in recent weeks, and this is now at the top.
In the meantime, though, I think it would be fair to mull over the ideas presented here. We have a service that is free of corporate influence, that respects its participants, and has the ability to support any system that we want to create. The owners in all of the leagues are good people who you could have a beer with in real life, and all of these aspects add up to one thing: I’ll take Customized Football over Yahoo any day!
