Observations on real football vs communist football
|
|
|
|
Since soccer is the biggest game on the planet and the championship game took place today, I decided to give it a fair shake. Wow, what an embarrassment. It was like a tryout for a Mexican soap opera.
I don't remember Ronnie Lott or Jim Marshall writhing around on the ground over nothing at all, over and over again, just to try to pull a penalty. Yet in soccer, that's normal and expected. What a bunch of pansies. |

| Yea there was a lot of gratuitous writhing, but this reminds me of how much "diving" takes place in hockey, and the ridiculous amount of flops in basketball. (Yes Shane Battier I'm talking to you.) The whole phemonenon of faking injury or penalty is kinda sad. |

| I happen to have attended two Hurricanes games last season, as well as watching the Stanley Cup play-offs and Championship games. I may not be the ultimate hockey fan, but I have seen my Penguins win several Cups as well as our Canes, so there! |

Similarities

|
Hockey and soccer are virtually the same as far as the structure of the sports. They both have forwards, defensemen and goalies, etc. They both are games of position. The penalty aspect is almost the same. Like most Americans, I would much rather watch hockey than soccer, but the analogy between the two is valid in my opinion. Both have way too much flopping and phantom penalty calls.
To be fair to soccer players, compare the amount of time a soccer player spends on the field versus how much time a hockey player spends on the ice. Soccer players are arguably the most well-conditioned athletes in the world. |

by that same logic, since nascar drivers spend up to 4+ continuous hours in their race, they are "arguably the most well-conditioned athletes in the world." Jeff Gordon loses 8 pounds every sunday (that part is true, actually).
dude, don't fall for the hype. the position that soccer athletes are super athletes is a ridiculous talking point being put out by the pro-soccer corporatist media. occasionally sprinting over a 90 minute span is not impressive whatsoever. soccer blows. |

| and sounds slightly less than intelligent. The similarities between soccer and hockey start and end with "forward, defense and goalies..". Anyways, Soccer has "strikers, mid field, mid defensemen, clogers and a whole host of other Pinko names. And if you think for one minute that the game of hockey if about playing keep away, the way the freeking world cup champions won the stupid tournement, then you know nothing about Hockey. Speaking of flopping in hockey, it is ironic that your "beloved penguins" host the two biggest flopper-crybabies in the league in Crosby and Malkin. God i hate them. |
