TE Scoring System...
The TE end scoring system needs to be looked out. The way it is now, only 3 or 4 TE's are even really worth a damn when it comes to points. I think it would help out a lot if, in addition to what's already in place, we added 1 point per reception. That way more teams with suck ass tight ends, and even those with stud TE's get more use out of the TE's. Thoughts? Anyone care, or is it just me? |

TE points system.

The TE position makes for more even teams on draft day. If we just up the points there is no point. Everyone would just have higher scores. If we eliminate it we just get closer to a "who has the best player" game. The TE position may only have 2-3 prime players on draft day, but then again isn't that true with all positions? Preist & LT, Harrison & Moss, and Manning and Culpepper. It seems like Heap and Gonzo fit right in. If you don't get the studs, you need to make it up somewhere else. Even FA had a stud TE avalible. I feel like everone could see that Heap and Gonzo were the prime guys. I wanted LT, the price was too high, oh well. |

we shouldn't fall into a dog-chasing-tail spiral where points are added to the system, unless there is good justification. the current TE scoring system does result in about 5 TE's being dominant, but that doesn't diminish any aspect of the fantasy game.
instead, owners have to value the advantage of having a dominant TE and determine what that is worth it to them. in the end, it actually INCREASES the value of TE's in the greater scheme of things, as having a 3 point average advantage on each opponent is huge. thus, teams pay accordingly both in the preseason auction as well as within their regular season free agency and trading moves.
if we just start adding points to TE's just because they aren't as dominant in NFL games as RB's and WR's, then we diminish the value of RB's and WR's. the league philosophy is to reward bottom line performance (yards), not touches, but even so we have TE's with their own scoring chart in order to give out more 1 point games. I'm not sure how giving 2 or 3 points for a 30 yard game would be reasonable.
