    6-7 is better than 7-6?
The first three spots are division winners, the next are at large based on over all record, the Wiseguys are 7-6 and Grey Conspiracy is in at 6-7? What am I missing?

    Victory points is why
I like the concept, but not the implementation. E.g., you are 6th and get an extra win. 7th and you do not. Perhaps we rethink this for next season.

    983 is better than 795
the purpose of the Victory Point system is to mitigate the luck factor that a pure head to head system is based on. it would be one thing if one's decisions had any impact on your opponent's score, but fantasy football is a virtual construct with no literal gridiron. too often, we want a literal translation of the NFL when it serves our thinking, but we disregard the inconvenient parts that don't fit the analogy.

it would be one thing if somehow our teams actually impacted each other, as it is in the real NFL, but the reality is that we do not do anything that can affect an opponent's scoring.

that simple recognition, of us having no effect upon opponents, is the genesis for the VP system. this is a system btw that is not crazy and out of the blue (we had it last year, and it's also being used by more and more big money leagues around the world).

the reasoning behind selecting the top 6 teams to make the playoffs is based on finding the 6 strongest teams for the postseason. the VP system accomplishes this by reflecting a team's overall power. the H2H element is still critical and still dramatic, as you earn a solid 1 VP no matter the scoring output.

but clearly, and this is no offense to the Wiseguys, the Conspiracy's 983 points scored this year is substantially better than the Wiseguy's 795 points. that's almost 200 more points! that's a near 20% higher offensive output week in and week out. and yet over the course of an entire season the VP system only gave the Conspiracy 1 more VP than the Wiseguys, because we still rightfully value the H2H construct.

to me, these are all reasonable numbers and effects. and i'd say that no matter what the team names happened to be.
