playoff scenarios - a start
|
|
|
|
OK Will, I'll bite.
Here's what we know for sure - assuming this week's score v Burnsville is correct, only one team has clinched a spot in the playoffs: Roving Gamblers. And only one team has been eliminated: Frewsburg Fowl Mouth Bass.
After that, the Koo Dynasty can clinch a playoff spot and an almost certain bye if they hold on tonight v the Valhalla DeAngelos. Additionally, Portland Factor can clinch a playoff spot by holding on to a slim lead v Keith, though Keith has two players remaining, including the top RB of all time, Ryan Grant.
A couple of other notes before I have to go back to work: There are 5 teams guaranteed to get to 7 wins: DC Corruptionists, Koo Dynasty, Asgard Thunder, Roving Gamblers, and the winner of the Blast/Hitmen matchup in week 13. These five teams will have a good chance at the playoffs but it's still no guarantee. That's because there are 7 teams that could have 7+ wins; the five above as well as the Skullsplitters and Factor (Keith needs to win this week to get to 7 wins). If all 7 teams get to 7 wins, the odd man out would likely be Portland based on total points, but that's no guarantee.
If only 5 teams get 7 wins, it gets really messy for that 6 seed. I'll try and look through that later today. |

playoff scenarios made easy

If all the scores and records are correct, the playoff situation is pretty straight-forward at this point.
Already in: Koo Dynasty, Roving Gamblers. Koo Dynasty has also earned a bye, not officially but obvious all the same due to points scored.
Already out: It's going to take 7 wins to get a wild card spot in the playoffs as DC, the Hitmen/Blast winner, at least one from the Sweetness Division, Koo, Thunder, and Gamblers will have 7 wins or a division title. So that means the following teams are eliminated: Fowl Mouth Bass, Bruins, Rush, and Valhalla DeAngelos. Great season from all these guys all the same.
Here's what's needed for everybody else:
DC Corruptionists: They've basically clinched a playoff spot. A DC win clinches a bye. They're also in with a loss, barring the Skullsplitters and Factor both winning and the Factor outscoring Stu by 200 this week. However, a loss and a Blast win could bump him from a bye week to a wild card spot.
Machu Piccu Blast: Win and they're in. They can get a bye with a win if DC and Gamblers lose and the Blast retain total points over Stu.
Hitmen: Just win baby
Skullsplitters: Win OR Factor Loss
Factor: Win AND Skullsplitter Loss
Dynasty: Win OR DC loss clinches the 1 seed. Will still retain the 1 seed if they lose AND Stu wins AND Stu outscores Koo by 34 (Stu wins the head-to-head tiebreaker if there is a total points tie)
Thunder: Win OR Skullsplitter or Factor loss, though he has effectively clinched a spot. He will likely be battling for the 5 seed with the Donovan Division runner-up.
Gamblers: Can get the 2 seed and a bye with a WIN and a DC loss (come on DeAngelos!)

Nice work on the breakdown Jeremy

A few quick notes.
As of now, only three teams have scored 700 points. Those are also the only three teams to have 700 scored against them.
The team with the most points against also has the most wins right now.
Lance Moore's interception cost Kent his matchup last night.
Go Hitmen! Go Factor! |
