Ballot Initiative #767: The Clean IDP and Water Initiative

That we adjust the IDP approach slightly, to bring a bit more balance towards good managerial skills towards the IDP positions. As it currently stands, in any given week any team can go to the free agent IDP pool and select a top 10 player for whatever position they need. This, coupled with the proper and modest scoring of our IDP system, and the result is that the IDP positions are a practical afterthought.
Two modifications can bring meaning to the IDP positions, while not imbalancing the positions or changing the appropriate and moderated scoring system that we have:
1) expand the number of defensive slots that each team has. 2) increase the number of starters to 2 DL, 2 LB, and 2 DB
If an IDP expansion is decided upon, it will be relatively simple to process:
a) we hold a special "IDP only" Free Agency Session b) each team gets 20Q for use in this special FA session i) this 20Q is for use only in this FA session and is not added to team bank accounts ii) their sum total of bids cannot exceed this 20Q iii) any remainder of the 20Q not spent in this special session is vaporized iv) if any team does not fill out the expansion IDP slots, they can do so via regular and upcoming FA
These are the general concepts of the IDP refinement initiative. There are a few variations on how we can choose to respond to it:
OPTION A: We increase the IDP slots from 6 to 12, and start two at each IDP position. This would take place in 2008 and we will hold a special IDP expansion FA session within a week.
OPTION B: We increase the IDP slots from 6 to 9 and maintain the starting of 1 IDP at each position. A special IDP FA session takes place now, and we table until 2009 the discussion of starting of 2 IDPs at each position.
OPTION C: We leave it as it currently is, and postpone any modifications discussions until after this season.
There will be a league ballot box with these A B C options, and everyone is encouraged to vote.
