    Free Agency waiving
As the Bashers have rightfully pointed out, some teams have waived players even though they have not had those players on their roster for 2 weeks (only players acquired via free agency are restricted in that they cannot be waived for 2 weeks - they can be traded, however).

back in the day, this website was set up to facilitate the league but not necesarily be the end-all be-all in terms of administering each little nuace in the rules. however, there has been a shift towards having the site handle more and more of the details and this is a prime example of an issue that should be built into the system.

i've set up most of this in the backend, and will build the necessary filters to prohibit players from being cut via free agency movements. i'll have this in place by next week's free agency.

i think that everyone in Ragnarok needs to be accountable for their decisions, as this rule has been in place for 7 years and there shouldn't be any excuse. what should we do about this for Ragnarok?

i think a MB fine is in order
looking at the details, it seems that this happened twice in Week 4 and nowhere else. amazingly, one was by the Skullsplitters, and expectedly, one was by the Bunch (just kidding).

i know that the 2-week rule was a consideration for the Skullsplitters in all of their movements, so i'm shocked to see them guilty of such an offense and i have accepted their apology for that. getting the auto-filters will help with this situation going forward.

anyways, even before the process of discovery i was of the mindset that a small fine would be appropriate. i've already deducted 5MB from both the Bunch and Skullsplitters accounts.

    i love the MB deduction
Having known Bachman for years, i can safely say that he does not have the mental capacity to handle a rules nuance like the 2-week-keep rule. In this case he should have been tried as a minor, or at least as an idiot, and therefore not subject to the same penalty as the Skullsplitters.

On a separate note, you're an asshole Tagliabue. Way to keep Pat Tillman's number off of Plummer's helmet. Your lame excuse for banning it was pathetic. If you're really worried about people putting personal tributes on their jerseys, why not approve a black band that can be worn on the jersey sleeve by any player for any reason, keeping the uniforms more, well, uniform, but allowing people to publicly mourn and honor others? Tagliabue, you need to remember that sometimes the principle is more important than the policy.

Mr. Tagliabue, the 5 Megabuck deduction for Bachman is unfair !

The Tag-meister was hitting the Bong-meister
As my secretary has pointed out, the Bunch actually did follow the rules and it was the cheatin' bastards Bruins who tried to undermine league policy. 5 MB has been put back into the Bunch's bank account, and 5 MB has been deducted from the Bruins.

And for you, Gamblers, what's next, a uniform patch for when your pet gerbil dies?

    Great question, Tags
That's why people say the NFL is great despite your presence. If i'm lame enough to want to honor my gerbil, let me do it by putting something on my uni that looks just like everyone else's uni. Who does this hurt? Anyone?

Time for this rule to go?
Just to open this up for debate: With the site being more automated, is it time perhaps to waive the two-week rule? I know that one of the reasons it was implemented was that in the old days it helped reduce the sheer volume of transactions Keith needed to handle.

I really do not see the harm in allowing more flexibility. If you waive a player, you risk that player getting picked up by another team. Seems fair to me. There's enough FA hawks in the League now that you cannot hope to safely "stash" a bye-week player on the FA list without a serious chance he will get grabbed.

Also, any free-agency pick-up costs a minimum of 1 MB, so it isn't like teams are not paying a price. Anyway, I have no issue with the long-standing rule, I was just wondering if this is yet another rule that could be re-visited in light of technological and logistical improvements.

Origin of the 2 week rule
i think that this was created foremost so that teams didn't just continually re-engineer their teams throughout the season. We saw in the first year that some people (*coughErikcough*) were doing this, and so we decided that we wanted teams to be a better reflection of overall management, rather than a firefighter approach each week. That is also in line with why we have a lockdown after week 12 and play through week 17 - only the strongest, deepest teams can survive the gauntlet.
