Suggestion for next year?
This may float as well as trying to deal a Cowboy in this league, but seeing as we hit the decade mark, wouldn't it be interesting to throw the teams in the air and see where they land (not literally!) for fresh new divisions in the next decade? I know I'd like a chance to play some of you more than one MAYBE two times a year, where now I have to play the Bass and Factor usually THREE (no offense). It may truly change the dynamic of the "predictable" playoff teams.
Just some thing to think about? Maybe even retiring division names if your so dedicated to current members. New divisions could come up with own division names. Do a ceremonial drawing before the draft. Could be fun and exciting!!!

yer so rad

actually, i was thinking the same thing earlier this fall and didn't bring it up. i'm open minded about that and have a couple of notes:
1) the name "Norris" stays, :P 2) do we want to try to get the season to end in Week 16? or is Week 17 ok, as unorthodox as it is? |

Divisions...

Either way works for me as long as it's clear that I get to be in the cellar regardless of my division :P |

Division change - Could we keep 1 old rival?
I'd be fine with changing up the divisions, but i'd also like to retain some of the rivalries that we've made over the years. It seems that most of the great rivalries in this league are based on divisions, and trying to keep at least some of them would be cool. So maybe each team could be paired with a "rival" from its current division, and that pair could be randomly assigned into a new division with another rival pair. That way there'd be some new blood in the divisions, but some remnant of the current setup. |

That's cool
Mathematically, that would almost happen anyway with only three divisions with four teams. All would almost have to be in a new division with an old "rival". I think that would be refreshing and energizing! |

this sounds fun

yeah, right on - the first one lasted 10 seasons, so this realignment could take place for the next 10 years...
here's my first take on the pairing and swapping:
Norris Division Skullsplitters and Maulers; duh Gamblers and Dynasty; ebony and ivory
Grant Division Bass and Bruins; battle for Asheville Factor and Warrior Monks; battle for the Triangle
Marshall Division Hitmen and Thunder; two Original franchises Bunch and Blast; Matt <3 Billy
Realignment: Norris Division Skullsplitters, Maulers, Blast, Bunch
X Division: Bass, Bruins, Dynasty, Gamblers
Y Division: Hitmen, Thunder, Warrior Monks, Factor |

Random is the only fair way.
While I am not all that thrilled with the idea of ruining the tradition we have built for the last 10 years, if we are indeed going to scrap it then I think a random drawing is the only fair way. At least that way we each decide our fate, instead of having it decided for us. |

if we can agree on the rivalry pairings
then realigning the divisions according to Keith's proposal seems fine to me. I, for one, am fine with it. If a lot of us prefer a random drawing though, I would understand that and recognize that it wouldn't be fair to ignore those people's preferences. In short, I am Switzerland. |

hey maulers, how "do we decide our fate" if it's random?
wouldn't it make more sense to consider rivalries and track records in realigning? |

i think it makes more sense to re-shuffle......

but I also don't give a shit either way. If everyone wants "rivalry pairings" then i'm all for it. |

Ok Moltar
If I draw a number or whatever out of a hat, I am choosing my fate. If you decide you want to be my butt-bitch forever and I am stuck with ya then that wasn't really my decision. Why some of you homogays wanna pair off like middle-schoolers in your parents' basement escapes me, but leave me out alright? |

how is the blast eliminated from the playoffs???
with two 7-5 teams left, is plausable that one or both could lose the next two games and the blast could win the next two, creating a tie. first tie breaker as per the rule book states total points would be the determening factor. |

You've got alot to learn about fate
I'm still not sure you get that randomly drawing a number is nothing remotely like choosing your own fate. But that's OK. And for the record, I'd actually had you and Keith in mind when thinking about keeping rivalries. If you don't want to play Keith twice and have that 10-year tradition continued, then that's OK too. But your homogay and butt-bitch comments really don't strike me as OK. I don't think it's cool, particularly in an era where homosexuals are treated as second-class citizens by far too many, to use homosexuality as an insult. I should have said this earlier this year when Bachman so eloquently broke the "homogay" line out at the draft, but he's much bigger than me, so I chickened out. Just like a good liberal. :) Anyway, i assume no one is saying these things out of hatred, but please do stop anyway unless you purposely want to align yourself with the Evangelical Right (who, ironically, were until recently led by a gay man). |

I don't think there is any hatred in the comments. I see it as more humor in the absurdity of racism/homophobia ( see 'Blazing Saddles'). |

Sorry Blast, we voted.

Yer out. lol Really though, you are 75 points behind the Skullsplitters, so it is highly unlikely that even if he lost two and you won two that you would catch up in points scored. But then, stranger things have happened! |
