Rules Proposal 27.1: Ragnarok Rumble schedule
For the 2024 season, do we want to move the Ragnarok Rumble schedule to be a week other than the last week of the regular fantasy season? We do have the option of putting this in any regular season week where there are no bye weeks. It could be in the first few weeks (such as Week 1) or it could be in a situation like in 2023 where there are no bye weeks in the middle of the regular season (such as in Week 8).

Even though 2022 has two teams on a bye week in Week 14, I think it is too late for us to move it in 2023. There may have been some owners who drafted their 2023 teams based on the knowledge of the schedule. That being said, if all 12 of us wanted to shift the Ragnarok Rumble to happen this week instead of Week 14, I am open to that. But it would have to be unanimous.

    Remaining schedule
If it was passed for this week, everything just bumps back one week? That seems dumb to ask, but as a teacher of teens, there are no dumb questions.

Not thinking this through...I'm fine with this. Why not? Let's rumble.

    I vote Yes.

I like week 14 being the Ragnarok Rumble
Maybe I'm biased because the Gamblers won the 1st Ragnarok Rumble in 2021, beating all comers. Or maybe I'm biased because the Gamblers won the 2nd Ragnarok Rumble in 2022, beating all comers again. But I really enjoy having the Rumble in week 14. There are so many ways our playoffs can be affected when we all play each other that final regular season week. It adds an element of chaos that feels very Ragnaroky to me. I'd hate to lose that just because the NFL has the dumbest possible bye week schedule. Having the Rumble end the season just feels right - I mean, sure, maybe that's because the Gamblers are the only team to ever win a Ragnarok Rumble. While I definitely see the logic of having the Rumble be on a week with all players available, I don't see that as more valuable than the chaos element week 14 provides. Saying that, doing it week 1 seems like a decent 2nd choice, since many of us are together for that Sunday.

Overall, I'm a 'no' in voting for moving it for this year, and pretty down on moving it next year too. Though doing it week 1 would be preferable to other weeks, if it had to move.

But of course, regardless of my vote, if Keith wills it so, I say let it be so.

    On the fence for moving
I didn't draft with the rumble in mind, but I do love the chaos it brings for the last week right before the playoffs. Mind you, I've only participated in one of them, but it was super exciting to think someone who would have normally coasted into the playoffs by having the second worst score over the team with the worst score could be knocked out completely to the lower bracket. It's such a cool wrinkle with this league. I think I'm against just for that aspect, but could be swayed if arguments are presented that make sense. I am completely down for revisiting it in the off season and potentially having it as a benchmark for teams in week 1 when some in off years or all of us are together. Like let you really see how your team you spent months (or minutes) researching is going to look like when they're all fresh and no one is dealing with injuries.

Also as the FNG, I'll defer to y'alls wisdom though.

I'm going to gamble that one year someone else will win the Rumble
That being said, I do LOVE the Week 14 approach regardless of stupid NFL by week scheduling. As long as we all know while we are in our summertime bunkers when the Ragnarok Rumble will happen and we are mock drafting accordingly, F the bye weeks and let's go with the final regular season week of the year. That week is the best for reflecting long-game ownership strategies, too. Roschon Johnson, do you hear that?

    So no unanimous vote. But…
Week one does sound fun! But I don’t really care this year. Week 14 is cool too. I’ve honestly forgotten each year until it’s mentioned.

    Somebody a trophy!
A two time champion of the Ragnarok Rumble, back to back. Wow! That hasn't happened since Stone Cold Steve Austin did it at the Royalm Rumble in 1997-1998. Screw a phantom trophy on your team page but a real Belt! So bad ass!

    There's one main difference.
The winner of the Royal Rumble is guaranteed a title shot. There are no guarantees in Ragnarok (other than Sean being an Arrogant Mother Fucker).

I like the week 1 for the following reasons:
    1. We are all together, yet, no opponent to beat. Just pure points.

    2. 100% the team you drafted.

    3. Most importantly, the bottom six scoring teams get the 10 free agency dollars. The worst teams get the extra “Ching” for bidding. This is the most important F.A., and the “luck of the draw” for scheduling doesn’t effect it.

    Royal Rumble
I have to side with Jeremy and Alex here. I love the chaos of having it on the final week. Doing it in Week 1 seems rather anticlimactic.

    Alternative idea
Can I sign up to play Koo every week for the remainder of the season?
