Ok, let's do this... let's talk about the new 17 week regular season

The NFL is moving from a 16 game regular season to where all teams now play 17 weeks. Teams still only have one bye week, and so we are now faced with an 18 week regular season. Obviously, in the past we played a 16 week fantasy season but how do we want to approach this new dynamic?
If we want to move the Ragnarok Playoffs to be in Weeks 15-17 instead of Weeks 14-16, that will create a schedule challenge. With a 14 week regular fantasy season (we've had 13), the easiest solution is to go back to three divisions and play everyone in your division twice and everyone else once.
I am beyond reluctant to open up the discussion about the merits of tiered divisions and progressive difficulty, but I wonder if that system is even compatible with a 3-division structure?
What are everyone's thoughts about the best way to approach the new NFL season length? |
