Why isn't the schedule set up where teams from each division play each other in non-bye weeks as these are the most important games for determining each division winner? |

divisional matchups and schedule

Thanks for the question... A long time ago in a football field far away, we had a concentrated divisional schedule for the first couple/few weeks and the last couple/few weeks - with non-divisional games in the middle. This ended up feeling a little artificial and it also put too much emphasis on the bookends of the schedule, so the scheduling template was slightly adjusted to mix in some of the divisional games throughout the season. There is still a divisional emphasis at the beginning and end, but it isn't the primary determinant. |
