The sense that i'm trying to make with my posts is that people are going overboard in their reaction to defensive point changes, myself included. Maybe this new system will be an improvement. Maybe it won't. But 1 week proves nothing, on either side of the argument. Let's see how the season plays out, and we'll discuss this again next offseason. Until then, this conversation-turned-argument is just making people mad at each other, which is never a good thing (we've seen people leave the league over squabbles as tiny as this one).
I for one don't want this to continue, and will do what I can to prevent it (i.e. no more silly emails about yardage or team offense). Hopefully this will help.

that's a very, very respectable score, while the "old" 17 points would seriously dilute the efforts of my worthwhile opponent. one thing to keep in mind in all of this is that THE RELATIVE VALUES BETWEEN DF'S ACTUALLY STAY THE SAME, it's just that their ratio towards an entire team's output is modestly reduced to a reasonable level. That's it. There's no other mathematical effect that took place - defenses STILL have their relative value, but now all of a sudden they're not scoring 30% of a team's score.
i'm glad that everyone is passionate about fantasy football; this last weekend was awesome, and i'm already looking forward to next year's gathering. but this really needs to be said: the points in favor of the change have never been satisfactorily refuted, the case is tremendously strong for it, the true math outlined is factual (relative values/team point ratios), and i am absolutely convinced that this is one of the best things we've done to the league.
with all that being said, i don't see much of a point to continue what has developed into an unproductive and derogatory thread. "can't we all just get along?" |
