Unfortunately, there was an illegal bid in the Midgard Auction yesterday and it was not discovered until today. At 4:23 pm Tuesday, DD and Z bid on Cooper Kupp and won the bid even though they already had 4 RBs and 5 WRs and had an existing high bid on a RB (Chris Thompson). When DD and Z won both bids, they ended up with 5 RB's and 6 WR's. In this situation, the illegal bid was the last bid made, namely the one for Cooper Kupp.
Let me be clear that I'm not disparaging DD and Z - there is a fair expectation that illegal bids won't be allowed by the computer.
What makes this especially difficult is the cascade of activity that happened in the past 24 hours, where other teams have made other decisions as a result of this. That being said, I think this is the best course for a remedy:
* Void the last bid by DD and Z on Cooper Kupp, reverting it back to ownership by the Wolverines for a current public value of 10CP and 24 hours on the clock.
* Void the last bid by the Wolverines on Robert Woods (which would have been illegal if he maintained ownership of Kupp), reverting ownership back to the Cougs.
If this causes any sort of significant hardship or issues with anyone, please let me know. This is a very difficult situation and I am trying to make the best decision, and unfortunately there is no perfect remedy. And so I have to go with nixing what is the illegal bid.
I've looked through everyone's bids in the auction room and don't see any illegal bids in play anywhere else. I'll keep an eye out, and everyone is encouraged to self monitor their own bids as we close out the auction. And if anyone sees anything amiss, please let me know and it will be immediately addressed.

| But can you please double check Cougs bid. The history shows I should still have him as I had the bid for 10. And my records show I had more bid on him than 10 (don’t want revel how much of course). |

| Where does it say you can't have 5 RB and 6 WR? I don't see that in the Auction FAQ or the limits section in the auction page. That should have been prominently posted on the limits section as I would have used that 30 CP on either a better RB or only on Kupp. I understand your thinking but I think I should be able to either: drop a different receiver or pick between the two that caused the issue. The only reason Kupp is after Thompson is that I thought I could legally have 5 RB and 6 WR, but I originally opted for 6 WR by bidding on Marvin Jones. When I was outbid I moved on to Kupp, but in between those events I bid on Thompson thinking it was OK to have 5 and 6. |

| Doing the math I can see that it isn't possible to draft the minimum of the other positions if you draft 11 RB/WR, but I checked the rules section as well and don't see any specific mention of this. Since this wasn't technically my fault, I think I should be allowed to choose between the two. Chris Thompson certainly wasn't highly sought after and I don't think anyone will complain if he goes back in the pool or goes to the second highest bidder. |

If the logic is that I wouldn't have been able to even attempt to draft Kupp, I would argue that after the auction told me I was maxed out because of the draft requirements for other positions that I would have left my max bid at 1CP and then bid on Kupp after I was no longer the high bidder. Thompson went for 7 so other people were obviously interested.
In summary - I think at a minimum I should be able to have the Thompson draft nuked and attempt to draft Kupp in the current "redraft". |

... about how subsequent decisions by you were based on the other bid that got nuked. totally, totally get it. it's quite a tangled web.
i think it's fair to nuke Chris Thompson also, and then let the chips fall. Kupp is still available to be bid on.
i did try to call all of the involved owners yesterday, but no one involved has their phone numbers entered on this website. it's worth mentioning that the phone numbers only show to logged in league mates and can't be internet spidered. so it's safe to put your phone numbers in, and it will help with situations like this and also for future trading opportunities.
as a footnote, the positional requirements are specifically laid bare in the auction room itself (in the War Room section) and they are also posted on the league scoring page. that being said, the computer should have caught it and i'm not sure how the bid got through. |
