Rules Proposal 22.1: Draft Clock Extensions
I absolutely love the fact that we allow essentially unlimited time for each of us to make our picks during the draft. This helps to ensure that everyone is making their best pick possible, which in turn makes the league stronger. The contrast between our league and other mainstream leagues shows in terms of quality drafting as well as the overall fun we all experience.
That being said, I'm wondering if we should install a little bit of structure to the draft clock. It's always been "15 minute clock, with unlimited extensions." Which is damn cool. In practice, however, it can be a bit long and it can aggregate to the point where the draft extends a tad longer than perhaps it should.
I propose that we only allow three 5 minute extensions. If your clock runs out, the only penalty you incur is that everyone can relentlessly hassle you until you make your pick (we won't ever do something as stupid as autodrafting). Good luck thinking clearly when that's the case!
What are everyone's thoughts? I don't think that this has been a significant issue in the past, but I do think it may be good to proactively define it a bit better with a more formal structure.

I think this is a very rational and sensible rule proposal. A bit of structure would indeed make the draft run more smoothly. There is only one possible hitch in this plan. It's called drinking.
