I love the Power Rankings and Hall of Fame. What is the rating criteria for the Power Rankings? Just curious, I need to know what to strive for. Thanks |

Power Rankings are nifty

Right now, they are based on four elements, with room for tweaking and additional variables. The current four elements are also weighted differently. I think that this first version of the Power Rankings did a pretty good job:
(((team YTD points/best YTD points) + (last 3 games combined score/best 3 games score) + ((wins/best wins)*0.3) + (( YTD points against/most YTD points against)*0.4) / 4) * 1000. In theory this should give a ranking between 0 and 10, but one league has some skewed results.
This has two big elements, YTD and combined score of last 3 games, and two smaller elements, wins and points against. The wins and points against are only a measurement of "mojo" or "lucky fucker" powers, and the main determinants are total points and hot streak.
Jeremy came up with another element to add: Consistency. We can determine a median score, and count the number of games where a team met or exceeded that value.
In the real world, power rankings also factor in head-to-head outcomes, but since this is fantasy and these head-to-head matchups have no impact on opposing teams performances, this head-to-head calculation doesn't mean anything and thus isn't used. |
