    A Summary Of Options
Spread the word to your fellow owners, and let's try to get a vote from everyone by the end of this week (say, Saturday April 10?). This vote will need to be resolved so that teams can strategize on their bids, knowing the economic landscape ahead - the FA will take place regardless of the option that is ultimately selected.

This is all good stuff, these economic discussions, and I'm really excited about the ideas that have come together from various people, to form what should be a great system.

    Ok, here we go...

    OPTION #1
    1) Reduce annual TV contract effective in 2004, to 50 Quid, and in 2005 and beyond it will be 30 Quid. The only fair way to do this, without throwing the entire economic balance out the window, would be to have a 50% rebate on 2003 free agency purchases as well as trades.

Everything across the board in 2003 would have to be adjusted by 50% if we wanted to fairly have the annual reduction to 50 Quid take place for the upcoming 2004 season.

Keep in mind, though, that while on the surface this may seem drastic, it is mathematicallly as neutral as can be. The relative funds for every team would still have the same financial leverage against other teams if a universal 50% adjustment took place.

This is a fairly sticky approach that can be seen as drastic and perhaps a bit wild, and would require a league-wide unanimous vote.

A hard cap of 5 Quid to the +1 Rule would be in place (15% of eventual annual TV contract).

    OPTION #2
Change it to 50 Quid effective 2005, and everyone gets 100 Quid in 2004. All free agency spending and trades from 2003 would remain the same. A hard cap of 8 Quid to the +1 Rule would be in place (15%).

    OPTION #3
Everyone gets 100 Quid in 2004, NO QUID IN 2005, and then an annual 30 Quid. All free agency spending and trades from 2003 would remain the same. A hard cap of 5 Quid to the +1 Rule would be in place (15%).

    SUMMARY
It seems obvious that the +1 Rule needs to either have a cap or be removed entirely (details are in another message thread).

Also, it has been pointed out that the 2004 deposits should take place before the offseason free agency, and this seems fair. No one was aware of this extra signing period, and made their financial decisions accordingly. And in general, it seems reasonable to have the deposits take place in January of each year.

    # 3
is my vote. Mainly this is to make quid more important. Hopefully within the next couple of years we can have things a little more in line, so that when we go to make a FA bid or trade that it will be something to consider how much quid we use. Bring on FA and cheerleaders.

    Sorry - I've been
I apologize for not responding quicker. I've been paying attention to basketball, NASACAR, golf and baseball. What the Hell was I thinking?
I'll vote for option # 2. Let's keep it simple.
Save your nuts squirrels - 2005 is just around the corner.

    "NASACAR" ???
What the hell is "NASACAR"? Good question. "NASACAR" is a new form of racing. It's a cross between rockets and rednecks - kinda like it is today in NASCAR - only a lot more expensive. I tell you what - these ole fat fingers never could type worth a damn.

    Option #3
Vultures vote for #3. I hate the idea of everyone starting out with 100 quid again but at least this option will bring the amount down and the value up a lot quicker. I also want to either get rid of the +1 rule entirely or at least have the hard cap at 5 as this option offers.

    illuminati vote for #3
and either getting rid of the +1 Rule or making it a maximum of 5 Quid per year... either way is fine by me, as long as it changes.
