    Draft ideas
    1) If an owner tries to pick a player who has already been drafted, they get a penalty. One penalty idea would be that they would owe every other owner one "get me a beer" action which could be cashed in anytime that weekend.

    2) Vote for best and worst teams. Not sure on the form of the hamster pellets.

    3) Vote for best and worst picks from the first 10 Rounds. Not sure on the form of the hamster pellets. Could be performed after the 10th Round, in the middle of the Draft.

    one more draft idea
    4) Introduce a system where the Thursday night players can be eligible to be drafted AND started in Week 1. The basic requirements for such a system are i) you have to make that "start-or-not" decision before the Thursday game, and ii) no information whatsoever should be revealed to other owners either before or during the Draft.

So here is how it could work:

    a) Anyone who wants to draft AND start a Packers or Seahawks player in Week 1 can participate. Nobody is required to participate.

    b) If, using the process described herein, you are successful in drafting your player then you MUST start that player in Week 1.

    c) If you don't use this process and just do a normal drafting of a Packers or Seahawks player, you can obviously still have that player but you CANNOT start that player in Week 1.

    d) We have a Draft Lock Box. It's a real fucking box with a real fucking lock on it. It's a fucking box.

    e) Anyone who wants to participate would need to put a SEALED ENVELOPE in that box before kickoff on Thursday night.

    f) You can either snail mail it to my house, as long as it *arrives by Wednesday*, or you can bring it with you on Thursday if you are coming to the house that day. If we have to, we may be able to come up with some electronic way to do it, but this paper approach is not subject to electronic fraud. Plus, we have a fucking box.

    g) What you would put in the envelope would be like the following: "Koo, Pick 6.1, Mason Crosby".

    h) Using that fine example, Sean would be waiting for that 6.1 pick to roll around. When it arrives, he can triumphantly announce to the room that he geniously opted for the draft-and-start route with regard to Crosby. The Koo would be required to take Crosby in that slot and to also include him in their Week 1 starters.

    i) If a team puts an envelope in the fucking locked box and then does not honor their pick, they get holy fucking hell rained down upon them. I have no idea what the consequences of that should be, but it should be terrible. Suggestions are welcome.

    j) NO ONE SHALL SPEAK OF WHAT IS IN THE CONTENTS OF THE BOX. THE FUCKING BOX. IT SHALL BE THE BOX THAT SHALL NOT BE SPOKEN OF. To do so would jeopardize the purity of the Draft. And so we either need to a) have a penalty for speaking about the box, or b) encourage total lying about the box. I like b) because of its elegant simplicity. If people are lying about it all the time, it's not taboo and no one is going to believe anything anyone else says.

    k) Limitations. Because this is a new idea, we should start with a limit of two (2) of these Draft-and-Start nominations per team.

    l) If we are going to do it, let's go ahead and do it for 2014.

    What say ye, all?

    Thursday Game
Can't we all just agree that certain players will be started (i.e. Rodgers, Lacy, Cobb, Nelson, Lynch)

Some others are a little more questionable but likely starts (i.e. Wilson, Harvin, Crosby, Hauschka)

While others are less likely options that you probably would need some decisions to be made (i.e. Boykin, Baldwin, TEs, etc.) Probably not starting these guys week one though.

earliest to make a tee time
will be tomorrow. i like the fucking lock box. i am leaving RDU with the rental car friday at 5pm. should be there by 7:30-8 pm. I think if we feel like going longer friday night, thats ok too. I would imagine that we would try to tee off around 9-9:30 Sat morn., putting us back at the house at 3:30. Maybe a 4:30 start on Sat?

    What a fucking good idea.
The fucking lock box sounds neat, though you've grossly underestimated how much I value Mason Crosby. He's an elite kicker.

My suggestion would be to limit this to one nomination per team. That way, if it all goes horribly fucking wrong, we're not as fucking screwed. And if we find out we all fucking love it, we can talk about expanding it to two the following season. In which case, we may need a bigger fucking lock box.

    Or...
Just say if they are drafted within the first 10 rounds, you can start them, but if not you can't. You can start kickers if its your first kicker selected.

    Golf.
Since it hasn't been suggested, if time is tight, what about playing nine? It's cheaper and half the time, more to do whatever...

I'm all good for 18, but if it's a buffet of events, ...just saying it out loud. Party on Garth.

Only one week away! At this exact time, 7 days from now, Sean will be picking Drew Brees and getting this thing underway! So pumped!
