    are Super Bowl rings overrated?
With the NFL being such a team sport, why are individual accolades so dependent upon Super Bowl rings? for example, looking over many "all time" defensive back lists, i'm not finding Paul Krause on most of them even though he is the all time leader in INT's. listening to debates about all time QB's, too, yeah everyone tosses a bone to Dan Marino but most compliments end with "... however, he never won a Super Bowl!"

it seems to me that such criteria ignores how the NFL is perhaps the ultimate team sport. that's why elite but four-time Super Bowl losing Vikings and Bills get dissed, while teams like the tedious Steelers and 49ers get consistently overrated.

What do you want? Participation Trophies?
    This isn't 8-year old soccer.

The Steelers and 49ers have 11 rings between them--I'd say they've earned the right to be rated highly. But hey, the Bills and Vikings have more fun, and that's what really counts, right?

    Who's bringing the orange slices?

    I need a "like" function.
Can you make that happen? Orange slices. That's rich.

I don't know if they are overrated but, Putin loves his!
If the number of Super bowl rings is the be all end all, then Ron Shanklin is one of the greatest WR ever. After all he was on all four Steelers SB winning teams during the 70's, as back up receiver.

If you're talking about ESPN or the NFL channel constant chatter about the Giants, Jets, Pats, 'skins, Eagles or Steelers. I think it's an east coast bias to keep the big markets watching.

For fuck sake, they put Chuck Noll and Don Shula ahead of Paul Brown in the greatest coaches ever, He invented the damn playbook!

    Awww, someone's all butt-hurt.
I would agree that judging individual players by the number of rings they have is not necessarily the be-all and end-all, you judge a team by what that team accomplishes. Would you prefer the asinine system that college football uses where there are no true champions?

    Oh and btw STEELERS RULE!

Oh and on a side note...
Nothing is more tedious than the number of Keith's superfluous "Trophies".
