Rules Proposal 17.2: More Better Rookies
|

|
For the 2013 season, it is proposed that the current Rookie system remain as is, with the following changes or additions:
1) Any Rookie drafted, that never gets waived and put into the Free Agency pool, will continue to be eligible to be declared in the current fashion in the following season's draft (24 slots). This is transferable as part of a trade, as well.
2) Any Rookie picked up via Free Agency will also be eligible for special consideration in the following season's draft, but this will be limited to 12 slots instead of the larger 24 reserved for drafted rookies. This is also transferable as part of a trade.

17.4: Moving from 1 to 2 Owner's Choice picks for draft

| Considering virtually everyone cuts a kicker or D/ST in the first FA period... this could either be done by requiring only 1 D/ST or 1 K to be drafted instead of 2, or perhaps 3 total between K's and D/ST's? |

|

The idea being that this could actually differentiate the elite kickers from the wannabes. It could be done in any number of ways: for example, -2 for a failed XP and -1 for any FG inside 40 yards, or just -1 for any missed kick...

Rules Proposal 17.6: Week 17 Ragnarok Divisional Pro Bowl

This one could be vetoed by Keith simply b/c it would definitely require some customized coding. But read on:
Week 17 Pro Bowl. Have the losingest coach from each division select a starting lineup from the teams in his division for Week 17. The highest-scoring team among the 4 divisional "all-star" teams earns an extra 5 (or some nominal number) MBs for his division teams to start with the following season.
Personally, I love this idea if only b/c it adds at least some mild interest in week 17 and could be pretty funny. |

Ragnarok Pro Bowl

This is actually fairly easy to accomplish and so there is a ballot box for voting on having a Ragnarok Pro Bowl in the 2012 season. Here is how it would work:
1) A separate league would be created, called "Ragnarok Pro Bowl". The four teams would be named after their respective division names and would be coached by the "losiest" coach for each division.
2) This would actually run over a two week span. In Week 16 all four all-star teams play each other, and the winners face each other in Week 17. Coaches would be able to change their lineup from week to week.
3) The teams from the winning division would each receive a 5MB deposit to their respective bank accounts for the following season.
4) Any player who is tagged to start either of these weeks will be marked as a Pro Bowler. This indicator will be shown on the league roster, team roster, and player cards. |

We could totally do the Pro Bowl this season.

All we need is for the 4 coaches to submit a lineup via a forum post prior to the start of Week 17, and then for someone to manually tabulate the results and post.
We could even hand out MB differently. 5 to the winning division and 0 for the others is one option. 6-4-2-0 would be another...
I'm thinking this would be a really big programming task for Keith to take on for the future--and probably not worth his time, especially if we can just do it manually.... |

Ragnarok Realignment

Despite feeling like we just drew cards yesterday, it's been many years since we did the realignment into four divisions. A realignment sounds really fun and frankly a bit refreshing, and so looking at past organization as well as the current one, how about this for 2013:
DIVISION A
Medical Center
Maulers
Syndrome
DIVISION B
Blast
Gamblers
Factor
DIVISION C
n00b
Skullsplitters
Thunder
DIVISION D
Rush
Foul Mouth Bass
Dynasty
With this approach, everyone is placed into a division where they have new rivalries - no echoes of years past. |

I'm assuming you'll still only be able to keep one rookie - it just doesn't have to be a player that was drafted.
The defensive scoring change seems ok. I don't know how much of a difference it will really make.
The Pro Bowl is a great idea. It'll be much better than the real Pro Bowl.
As for realignment, this was the 6th season with these divisions. Sounds like a good time for a change.
The only thing that was suggested that I don't really care for is negative points for a missed FG. It seems unnecessary. You're already missing out on points due to the missed kick, there's no need to get penalized even more. |

| I like the sense of tradition that we have developed over these seasons, but I can understand the desire for change. I guess we do need to at least give Zach a slim hope of making the play-offs though. |

| hm. i kind of like either sticking with the traditional 1 Owners Choice slot, or getting rid of it ENTIRELY and freeballing it. let the invisible hand of the free market give us all a hand job at the county fair. |
