fellas, i got bad news

| seems as though the stupid hopscotch fest is the same weekend of our weekend. I am playing in a band that is in the fest ( it is a paying gig!) and our show time was announced today. 9:30 Saturday. My heart sank and then i flipped the table over. I was hoping that it would have been thursday or friday, as i still would have been able to drive up on saturday morning. I cannot make the draft weekend. I FOR SURE want to participate in the draft via the internets, much like eric and dave are this year, al be it, their circumstances are not like mine. I would be able to do the draft for the first 7 hours or so( = 3-4 rounds, lol) and then use the work sheet that our fearless leader has so wisely developed. Also, we could move the weekend to late august 24, 25, 26. i suggest this out of pure selfishness. I do not want anyone to put themselves out in any way. I understand the financial implications of one less person for the rental and I am truly sorry for this late notice. I realize that another option is to find another owner for MY team. I would strongly protest that course, with my last breath. I ask your forgiveness for all of this. I accept all comments, needling and name calling with humility. I will be paying my dues tomorrow. |

i was really, really looking forward to taking all of your money at the cabin's pool table, Billy.
well, fuckballs on Hopscotch. hopscotch can suck my hairy balls.
we're already planning on doing it via video skype with the minnesota boys, so we'd just have a big video conference on skype.
now here's an idea which has been bantered about in the past and may actually have a role this season: just like the NFL, break out the draft into more than one day.
we could do Rounds 1-2 or Rounds 1-4 on Friday night, before the poker game. say, maybe 6pm or something. and then commence the rest of the draft at 12pm on saturday.
while that does sound like it could be even more funner, it will give all teams more time to plot their Day 2 picks. which could be a good thing for overall quality control as well as for fostering trades, but then again maybe we do want to keep the pressure on decision making for one continuous draft.
anyways, that's just an idea.

I kid, Billy, I kid. Though I do love the absurdity of Billy bringing up the possibility of replacing him. That's even stupider than being in a band that plays at a festival that is scheduled for the first weekend of the NFL season. Which, I think we can all agree, is about the stupidest thing imaginable.
Billy, you will be missed this year. But I hope your band kicks ass, you get signed to some big record deal, and you put all our names in the liner notes of your breakout album.
As for Keith's Friday night suggestion, I love that idea, and would be all for it. Though 6pm may be a little early for me. Not sure I can get to Black Mountain by then. Maybe 8pm?

At least it's not Coldplay (and at least you're actually IN the band).
I'd be down with a 2-day draft, or even potentially with shifting the dates if we aren't already locked in. A Ragnarok weekend without Billy is like a Hungarian female weightlifter without an Adam's apple: a total farce. |
