I like to vote!
I thought it was a trick question because I thought >harumpf< was German for yes.
To clarify, I vote yes. I will try to stick with English, the 'offical' language of the USA. |

two areas of consideration for divisional structures
1. the first issue is what the Cougs just addressed - which format results in better teams making the playoffs? i tend to think that the 3-division format would be more accurate in determining who makes the playoffs, as it helps to mitigate any situations where a smaller division with weaker teams is getting representation. and it also provides three at-large wildcard teams, who make the playoffs based on their overall performance. with four divisions, we'd have just two wildcard teams.
2. the second issue is how to resolve the schedule. with four divisions, we have a nice and tidy, symmetrical schedule that had a 13 week regular season and a 3 week playoffs. each team plays their divisional rivals twice and everyone else once. when you go to three divisions, this is no longer the case. however, there are options available for the schedule: a) each team plays divisional rivals twice and 7 of the 8 other non-divisional teams once. b) we do a "double header" in one week, where each team plays two non-divisional games and then falls back into the normal schedule. this results in 14 symmetrical games in a 13 week span.
i'm up for whatever the majority would like to do. i'm still gonna pwn no matter what we do.

Round Robin most important
Sorry I started this talk. Looking at the poll it just reminds me of Florida circa 2000...lol.
But my biggest concern that we all play each other. It is best way determined the best teams. All the rules and scoring is tailored to remove as much chance as possible, so the 3 team team divisions should not matter all that much. I just want to play a round robin. |

a true Round Robin?
do you mean that we would have an 11 week regular season, and all teams play each other once?
if that is what was being described, i'm not sure if the sacrifice of two weeks of play is worth it because any W-L system is a virtual and imperfect construct no matter what we come up with (0, 3, or 4 divisions).
but if by "round robin" you are describing the 4-division scenario where it is truly symmetrical, then it sounds like you are casting a vote for "4"?
lol, that poll sucks! out of the options for "3", "4", and "harumpf", we've gotten: 3 votes for "3" 3 votes for "4", one of which was switched to "3" 1 vote for "yes" 1 vote for "Round Robin"
looks like we're leaning towards "3"?
i'm game for "3" or "4", but i'd prefer to not do "0".
let's nail this down today, if possible, and then i'll generate and post an official schedule? last chance to chime in, everyone!
go Vikes. f those Saints.

A new ballot box is up so we can ignore the older one with the switched/oops/changed votes. Vote so we can get this figured out tonight :) |

it's official: 4 divisions
we're going with the four division format, like we did in 2009. this will result in a true symmetrical schedule playing out over 13 weeks. the schedule has been regenerated accordingly, and everyone is welcome to audit their own schedules to make sure that they are playing their divisional rivals twice, and everyone else once.
regarding previously mentioned concerns about determining which teams make the playoffs, it may be worth mentioning that Midgard uses a "victory point" system to define the standings. this consideration augments the overall W-L structure and helps to determine who the stronger teams actually are. for more information about victory points, check out the league rule book. |
