yowza, it looks like we have a tie in the Blast / Gamblers game? if so, we're entering vague territory in the Rules, as we only have one level of tiebreaker in place - the Coach. the Rules will need to be updated for the playoff scenarios, as clearly there are no ties in the playoffs.
one option that i'm tossing out there for general comment is to have the tie go to the homefield team. so the first level of tiebreaker would still be the Coach, and then if the scores are still even then the win goes to the home team. that makes homefield advantage even more meaningful, which is akin to the NFL. this system would work for all playoff games except the championship game, and we'd still need to come up with a resolution for a situation when the big game is a tie.

There is an existing tiebreaker rule buried in the rule book: "In case of a tie in the playoffs, the tiebreaker order is: 1) Coach, 2) DF, 3) bench points. After that, it goes to home team." I'm happy to have it changed, but at least for today that's the rule. Either way, Akers had 10 points, not 8, bringing my total to 75. I didn't bring it up before b/c i didn't realize how close the score really was. Billy's team was tricky like that all year; just when you think they're done, they're scoring some more. Sneaky good. I've got Billy as an early 2010 favorite. I think Vegas gives him 7-1 odds.

we're brilliant. glad this is covered for this season...
for next year, i think we should get rid of the "3) bench points" consideration. and perhaps take a more critical look at the idea of the defense being the next tiebreaker - that's kind of an antiquated idea. but we can think about that later. |
