If draft position has no bearing why is everyone protecting it? If luck plays such a major role, why wouldn't it be interesting to really shake up the order? I think if any one of us had a shot at the first pick, we'd buy that ticket.

Don't we create a new problem, or the same "problem"
Do we have this discussion again in 2 or 3 seasons, if the lottery is put in place, when a team consistently loses the lottery and ends up picking in the 11 or 12 spot? Now is it "fair" that because of a bad lotto you get late selections?
