2008 Proposal: QB Autobackup

For the 2008 season, it is proposed that Ragnarok institutes a QB Autobackup. If a team owns two QB's from the same NFL team, they may start both QB's in any given week.
Since the QB position is a unique position in football (there are not QB-by-committees, such as with RB's, etc.), this scenario would accomodate situations where a QB gets hurt in mid-game as well as if they get pulled during the final weeks of the season. It is not an abusable opportunity, as teams still need to reserve two roster slots for this and QB's have to achieve 100 yards passing before they get any yardage points (we use an exponential curve and not a linear one). In addition to seeming to be a sensible policy, it will also result in a slightly richer Free Agent pool throughout the season (as some teams may decide to use their roster slots to get backup QB's instead of starting QB's). |
