Roster Size Adjustment (2007 proposed update)
|
|
|
|
Reduce the roster size from 21 to 20. Draft requirements would be the same except that instead of requiring 2 Coaches, only 1 Coach will be required. This is in response to most teams dropping a Coach to pick up a skill position, and it will also slightly enrich the Free Agent Pool. |

adjustment addition?

If you pass out or leave before the last round, your roster freezes and you lose those slots...and you have to survive with whom you personally drafted. For example, an owner passes out in round 15, he'll only have five bench slots. |

First off, Zach, you sound like a teetotaling Red Stater. How coud you come down so hard on drinking? You've been watching too many high school instructional videos, my friend!
But I've never liked that the people who don't complete their rosters on Draft Saturday get to pick people up the next Sunday. How about freezing roster size until the 1st free agency period, so if you pass out or leave early you're stuck without players until free agency, and then you have to bid on players just like the rest of us. That seems like a fair penalty, at least for those who leave early. |

It's not the Drink...

but the Drinker. I like that penalty though.
I guess I'm still bitter that Joe and I trek hours to see you guys and (last year) we didn't finish all the rounds. Some of yous I saw in less time than we spent on the road. But WTF, we only see you once a year, right? No biggie. And we're doing three cases of PBR this year too, si? We're too old for a keg if memory serves... |

yeah, agreed - no more "free picks" on sunday morning. let the mamma's boys get what's coming to them.
on a related note, what about the idea of starting Free Agency the wednesday after Week 1, instead of after Week 2? i think that our use of FA has evolved since the 1990's and it's no longer an all-in cannon shot for one stud player, so the desire of giving an economic advantage to the worst teams (0-2 teams have +20MB) is no longer applicable on a practical level. therefore, let's open up FA right away, on the Wednesday after Week 1? |

Saw the Dolphins from 1,000 feet
|

Flying into Fort Lauderdale last monday i got to see about 10 seconds of the Miami Dolphins minicamp from seat 11A. It may have been from several hundred feet up, but they were clearly running a goalline drill, and it was unstoppable. Fear Ronnie Brown! |

That wasn't Ronnie Brown...

That was Ricky Williams, who was secretly working out with the team. Unfortunately, he tested positive and appears to be in jeopardy of missing the upcoming season under the NFL's "9th strike and you're out, no tolerance after the first 8 times you fuck up, we really mean it this time" policy.
I agree with all the proposed rules--roster of 20, drunks can't pick up players on Sunday, and starting free agency after week 1. All fine by me.
I'd also like to remind everyone of some other proposed rules--that the first X rounds are announced from a podium, and the winner of the league each year gets presented with a jacket a la the Masters (albeit a horribly ugly, thrift-store version with a patch sewn on). |

Podium / Jacket are a must!
|
|
|

We've gotta do that. It'd be a blast, particularly the podium. Unnecessary pomp and circumstance is always funny. |
