The end is near
I just wanted to say Merry Christmas and let everyone know that I'm not coming back next season. I think I've left this team in good enough shape that you'll find a replacement owner relatively quickly.
I hope there are no hard feelings from the whole "trade veto" incident. I sometimes take this stuff a little too seriously which is one of the reasons why I've decided to drop out.
I wish all of you the best of luck in your quest for the Big Prize.
Take care,
Bob "Village Idiot" Philip |

Missing 2 votes
From the rules (again):
"If one is called for, then all owners not involved in the trade will vote, even if it takes the rest of the day to get everyone's vote. The vote is resolved and the trade is either approved or disapproved; 50% is considered a veto."
There were only 8 votes out of the 10 non-involved owners. I think someone should contact the other 2 owners and have them vote. If they both vote to uphold the trade, I will have absolutely no problem with it since we're abiding by the rules. If one of the two vote to veto, the trade should be vetoed.
This is the last post you'll get from me (promise) as long as we're following the rules. |

Where's Keith??
Collusion ruins a league and if there are no safeguards against it, it will ruin this one - if it already hasn't.
How do you determine what is collusion and what is just a bad trade? I don't personally know any of you except for Jeff and to some extent, Keith. I do know that a lot of you are friends whom are obviously more likely to work together. I don't know about the two owners involved in the trade.
So from my perspective, there is more than a good chance that this is collusion. I obviously could be wrong, but I'm assuming it's collusion.
Where is Keith and why isn't he involved in any of this? It's time the commish speaks up instead of being remaining totally silent during all of this!!
By the way, the offer made to me was Randy Moss for Calvin Johnson and Johnny Knox. There was nothing wrong with the offer at all, but since it's a dynasty league I decided not to accept it even though it probably helps me in the short term. How can he make that offer and then turn around and offer Moss for McClain? It doesn't make sense. LeRon McClain isn't even owned in any of the other leagues I'm in. I've been in FF leagues for almost 15 years and have never seen such a bad trade hold up. I've never been in a league that would allow it to hold up.
If it sounds like "sour grapes" to Drinking Team as he wrote in his post, then he's missing the point.

Did everyone vote - read the rules
In the rules it states that ALL of the owners not involved in the trade will vote.
"If one is called for, then all owners not involved in the trade will vote, even if it takes the rest of the day to get everyone's vote. The vote is resolved and the trade is either approved or disapproved; 50% is considered a veto. "
Did everyone in the league vote?
This trade is totally unacceptable - what a joke! I can't believe I'm in a dynasty league that would let this pass. A top 10 receiver for a back-up running back with no keeper value what-so-ever - nice.
I'd love to hear how the others in the league feel about this one.
You gotta speak up if we want to make this right!

why are free agent stats incorrect?
Specifically, the DL (only one i've checked).
ytd player name stats team bye tackles sacks int pnt td ret td fum td int td safety 28 Parker, Juqua stats PHI 4 5 4 0 0 0 2 1 0 15 Griffin, Cornelius stats WAS 8 12 0 2 0 0 0 0 0 14 Hali, Tamba stats KC 8 3 3 0 0 0 1 0 0 14 Mathis, Robert stats IND 6 7 2 0 0 0 0 1 0 13 Ellis, Greg stats OAK 9 10 3 0 0 0 0 0 0
Out of the top 5 listed, only Greg Ellis is correct.

why do the standings not reflect this?
This is taken directly out of the rules:
"In addition, every team plays against the entire league each week, with the top six scoring teams receiving another Win. This additional "meta game" will further help to reduce the role of "weaker" divisions as well as fairly reward teams that consistently score well but have that unfortunate circumstance of facing the highest scoring team that week, etc."
Just curious why we are not following this since it's in the rules and we did it last year.

Click on the scoring link...

...and you'll see the minimum requirements for the rosters in the first grid.
This is contradicted by the verbage in the rules which state that the only roster requirements are for the IDPs.
Last year, Keith institued the 2 HC requirement (believe me, if it wasn't required, I wouldn't carry any). In my first year (2007) I didn't carry a HC at all. Last year, we were forced to carry 2.
I'm not sure if we get a notice that rosters are illegal or not (probably because mine is legal).

Wow
I'm wondering the same thing. 4 of the 12 teams have illegal rosters as per the rules (you need to carry 2 DL, 2 LB, 2 DB and 2 HC).
What is the penalty for this? I'd be upset too if I got beat by someone who had an illegal team. |

really?

Please show me in the scoring rules where defensive TDs count. I see punt and kick returns, but no int or fumble recovery returns. I see some yardage bonus points, but nothing else.
I must being missing something.

IDP TDs
Does anyone else think that points should be given when a IDP runs an INT or FR for a TD? It seems like that is the most important thing that an IDP can do on the field. |

Keith: When will the rosters be ready?

Just wondering if you have a time frame on fixing the rosters. If we need to get keepers to you by Friday, we need as much time as possible to make decisions.
Thanks |

victory points

I once was in a league where I lead the league in scoring, but didn't make the playoffs (4 teams out of 12 made it). That's why victory points should stay in this league...because I'm selfish. |

I agree - IMO the IDPs in this league suck.
I was in a league once (a long time ago) where you drafted a team Def Backfield, a team Def Line and a team S/T - all with their own unique stats (Def backfields got points for low opp. net passing and ints, Def lines for low opp rushing yds, fumble recovories and sacks, S/T for kick/punt return and blocks).
...and to think I gave all this great info for free!! |

Trade veto!!!
"Matt Bryant" has 10 letters in his name and "Joe Nedney" only has 9 - i.e. NOT FAIR. Clearly, this trade should be stopped and both parties involved should be disciplined and perhaps thrown out of the league.

next year
In the FFOC league I'm in, you get a win for the head-to-head and a win for the top half of the league, just like this one. BUT, in that league you get a loss for being in the bottom half of the league. Everyone essentially plays 2 games per week instead of one with a bonus.
It's too late for that now, but this would fix our problem for next year.
After week 8, it was possible to have 16 decisions. If we count wins instead of win%, that would assume that you have losses for the difference (16 minus your teams decisions).
Whatever the commish thinks is the best way is good for me.
I do like having the victory points for the reasons that Keith put them in this league.

Rule changes 1 & 2
Well said TV.
I also like Rule 1 a lot and am very indifferent to Rule 2 (I don't really even like IDPs to be honest - If you want to get creative, how about Team DL, Team LB, Team DB and Team ST and have special scoring for each? WHAT?)
Summary: Rule 1 - Good, Rule 2 - Either way.

Auction Worksheet
Keith,
The worksheet didn't draft by need. I only used it for the last 3 picks (needing 1 DB, 1 LB and 1 CO to be legal) and got 3 DBs because the were at the top of the list. I thought it would handle that, but it didn't.
I'm OK for a starting lineup this week, but do I have to use Quid to have a legal roster? Or can I just pick 1 CO and 1 LB after the free agency picks today.
Thanks,
Bob

Auction details

Keith,
Looking through the rules, trying to figure out how this auction works.
300 Quid for 24 players? Or is it something different?
Is the auction held on this site?
How does the bidding work? Do we take turns or is it like a real auction where you type in your bid at any time?
I've never done an auction online, so please spell out everything for us.
Thanks!!

Auction Date

Keith,
The only days that are good for me that week are Mon and Wed (8/18 & 8/20).
I have soccer practice on Tues, travelling to Pittsuburgh on Thurs, travelling back late on Friday, soccer game on Saturday with a Saturday night live FF draft, and a live FF auction on Sunday. You picked a very busy week for me - lol!!
I will be OK if you find a replacement owner for me because of my scheduling conflicts. The following week I'll be free on Tues, Wed, Fri, Sat or Sun.
Sorry for being a pain in the ass!

I've been playing FF for a long time (my first year I drafted Curtis Martin as a rookie in the 13th round - anyone know what year that was?).

Draft questions for Keith
If I have to leave the draft for an hour or so, will my picks be taken from my draft worksheet while I'm gone? I will have to bug out to take the kids for team soccer pictures 2 hours into the draft - I forgot all about this.
Do I need to have a complete line-up at the end of the draft or can I skip a position if I'd like?
If I do need a complete lineup, will the computer know to fill these positions even though they aren't on the top of my list?
Thanks! |

Hello from the Valley / My draft vote
Hello and good luck to all from the Village Idiots!!
I voted on the draft, but here is my real availablility:
Friday 17th - good after 5:00 PM CST Saturday 18th - good before 5:00 PM CST, but bad after that (60th B-day party for mom-in-law) Sunday 19th - good before noon, but have another football draft in the afternoon (exact time unknown). After 6:00 PM CST is OK Monday 20th - good after 7:30 PM CST (coaching soccer) Tuesday 21st - bad all night Wednesday 22nd - good after 7:30 PM CST (coaching soccer) Thursday 23rd - good after 5:00 PM CST
If the times don't work for the rest of the league, I'll try to figure out something. I understand that my votes shouldn't count as much as the vets - and will do my best to accomodate.
Go Cubs!
